What makes the Stitches line so good imo is the fact that Stitches himself has no quest tied to him. The game gives you no incentive to own up to your mistake and face him - So if that's what you end up doing, that call is entirely your own. The game offers your character a chance to be something more than a sellsword or a murderhobo - A chance to be a god damned hero for once.

Yah but if you are an early 20 character leveling in Duskwood and you see the fateful red yell that it is coming, you can wet yourself the first time it marches down the road towards you. The roads are supposed to be safe. I actually saw him spawn when I was doing quests in the northern part of the graveyard. It was pretty cool.

Even better, you can't. Doing that quest chain at the appropriate level means you have almost no chance of killing Stitches without a group.
@SH4D0W07333 жыл бұрын
Sure, you help that Satyrr in Teldrasil, you help create stitches, you bring Hakkar into the world, you aid a black dragon achieve his goals and then you build an unstoppable golem for a traitor to the dwarves... But at least you make up for it by giving Fandral Staghelm a bunch of morrowgrain and you provide a lot of help to Katrana Prestor multiple times. Two very trustworthy alliance leaders. And you even do the sensible thing and deliver Kel'thuzad's phylactery to that totally not a villain member of the Argent Dawn.

Classic/Vanilla's issue is the quantity of quest, not the quality of the quest, especially in the 40-60 range. The writing is genuinely the best I've encountered in a MMO, everything is grounded and treats you like an ordinary adventurer. I just wish there were a lot more of them.
@enderpin5 жыл бұрын
One theory i've never seen discussed is that the fact that they run out is intentional. The idea I heard goes something like this: Look at the zones where you run out of unique quests. Winterspring, WP, EP, Silithis, and some others that don't fit the pattern so i'm pretending they dont exist. All of these areas have something in common, reputation. I'm thinking the final quests are the grind. Timbermaw, argent dawn, cenarian circle, wintersaber, and that other one who's name i forget that gives the douses.

The writing is good in some places. In some other places it is this :) www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/d1pibs/i_guess_the_quest_designer_just_sort_of_gave_up/?

honestly I think there is enough. I certainly wouldn't want the leveling experience to be what it was like in tbc and beyond, where you're just on a streamlined path of quests going from one camp to the next. most of the xp gain in vanilla is from mob kills, i think it was initially designed around grinds. this is also why there's so many outdoor dungeons where you can do just that. now maybe somewhere along the way of development the philosophy changed a bit because at low level ranges you don't run out of quests, but the finished product is what it is. certainly turned out more than fine considering its success lol.

It's a shame the list isn't longer. Most memorable quests I liked were: 1) Redemption (Tirion Fordring's Quesline) 2) In Eraniku's Own Words (saving a dragon's soul from enslavement) 3) The Legend of Stalvan (pretty dark story of love and tragedy) 4) Marauders of Darrowshire (a heroic battle for Darrowshire)

Fun fact about the Linken quest, Aquamentus is actually the name of the first boss you fight in the original Legend of Zelda. I love that questline, there are so many references to different points and places in different Zelda games. Like, getting your sword tempered in the spring; that's a reference to how you get the Gilded Sword in Majora's Mask. Literally every segment of that quest references something Link has done in the series. Whoever wrote it, must have played a lot of Legend of Zelda. In my opinion it's one of if not the best questline in all of WoW.

For me, one of the most interesting questlines was in Dustwallow Marsh: The Dragonkins raided a small Ogre village, many of them have died defending their home, some of them fled, living alone in the woods or teaming up with other survivors. I don't remember much, but there's a Two-Headed Ogre Shaman named Brogg, that was allowed to live in one of the Goblin settlements. He would constantly tell us about the assault on their village, and he really shows that even an ogre can be very kind and honorable. The Dragonkin Banners, their blood and their hatred - we gather it all in order to help the Shaman create a totem that would help the Hero of The Horde to see the spirits...The spirits of those who died protecting their home. We need to find the remains of the defenders, and put their spirits to rest...Once the deed is done, Brogg is finally relieved, that his friends are now in peace. There is also a questline in the Horde Camp, where an Elder Ogre is losing his patience towards their Chieftain. That is because he doesn't want to retake the fallen village out of dragonkins claws, so the elder and the hero of the Horde are planning a small revolution against him. Finally, the last act of service for the Ogres - we have to defeat the chieftain. Noticing that the power gap between the Hero and him is incomparable, the former chieftain proceeds run away... Despite all this annoying mobs and gangers, I really like Dustwallow Marsh, because it showed us a completely new side of the Ogres.

These quests were cool. I remember going back to Darkshire later on and there was Stitches. I had levelled up quite a bit and when he was dead everyone cheered! The crystal cave in Un'goro crater was pretty. People had a party there one Winter Veil. Does anyone remember the crazy goblin quest in Booty Bay when he sent you to Swamp of Sorrows to pick a herb? You finally take it back to the Inn at Booty Bay and he snorts it up his nose and gets off his face. I never forgave that goblin.

My favourite is still the Ancient Egg quest. It spans across continents, several instances, and finally ends at Jintha'alor which is practically an open-world instance. You need a party to do it, but you often run into hostile parties trying to do the same thing. You can work together but often it turns into a hostile rat race and amazing emergent gameplay that hasn't been replicated since then.

I didn't take them all to max but still had great fun on the early quest-lines. Not gonna lie, the Shaman and Druid quests were brutal but still fun from a "glad that's over!" perspective, heh. ;) Not sure if the idea interests you buddy but I think a few vids on the class quests ( Vanilla Classic era) would probably receive GREAT response from the community. Thrall is good. That's why Garrosh was a nice change of pace. Garrosh lasted longer than he had to simply due to lack of options and was given a pitiful conclusion. He was literally doing what he was best at, appointed by someone who thought the leadership position would change them, then the one that appointed him took none of the responsibility after executing him. Wrath of the Lich King and the revamped map of Azeroth in Cataclysm were better zones as a result of him existing.

That would be pretty funny if Stitches were friendly to the person that “summoned” him. A couple accidental run-ins with Stitches while leveling up taught me the true utility of Shackle Undead. The Linken one got me thinkin’ you should do a video on some of the longest or suspiciously short quest chains. It always made me scratch my head that to get into Ony you had to jump through friggin’ hoops just to get in to a raid with 1 boss and then to get in to MC it’s basically “Yeah, go click on a rock in a dungeon.”.
