@@Chase_Schrader I'm in Ontario, I have some property in the north so I get out for some fun but no where near as much as I'd like. I used to be a long haul truck driver for many years and I was out there and to the coast quite a bit but in that line of work staying on road is paramount,lol. I really like that you get up there in the winter, I'd watch a video about your gear for that if you haven't done one already. I just found your channel so I'll check out the other stuff. Cheers

Sweet, isn't that the truth I always want to get out more! Haha yeah that makes sense, I got one about my winter camping gear at setup but not one on my recovery gear yet. But it is coming soon! Glad you found my videos, I hope you enjoy them!

Wow this is cool i will be going this way in a couple of days looking for some crazier trails as well but this might be a good warm up

Glad to hear you got a couple trails on your radar! If you want something harder, check out McLean Creek top of the world and West Fisher! There’s also a little bit more of a chill switchback trail that goes into Lost knife in Ghost!

I was just out there on the sept long weekend. Went all the way to marker 39 on the transalta, past the diversion dam

how do you think an adventure bike would fair on all of these

Transalta and waiparous valley road would be great on an adventure bike! Lost knife is a little more up and down and rutty but is probably doable.

transalta is closed all winter. it is not year round.
@Chase_Schrader5 ай бұрын
Transalta? Where have you heard that, it is a clearly marked road with no such closures on the Alberta Government map, the only closure is past junction 39 which is closed from March 31 to December 1. You can find the updated map here: open.alberta.ca/publications/ghost-public-land-use-zone-designated-trails-and-roads

@@Chase_Schrader although not physically closed it is not recommended in winter months unless you are either on a snow machine or in a large group of very well prepared and educated people. single vehicle use as you show in your video is not recommended at all. the valley across the river is closed in winter but also in general unless you are in a group and very well prepared i would not recommend it on your own. your video portrays it as an easy route . and many people get into trouble out there. so I would not encourage amateur drivers to be doing this section in the winter months.
@Chase_Schrader5 ай бұрын
Respectfully, it seems like you might not be too familiar with the area or the regulations. First off, snow machines are a no-go down there-OHVs are banned on those roads, and yes, it's a road, not some side trail. And as for the "valley across the river," I think you might be a bit confused. If you’re referring to Don Getty, that’s clearly marked, and you can only get there via the Devil’s Gap Trail. Plus, you can drive the entire riverbed in winter, as I outlined in the Alberta government map. I’m not sure about you, but I am out there almost every other weekend during winter-mainly because a lot of other trails are iced over-and this spot has actually been plowed down to the riverbed for the past two years. Sure, avoid it right after a big snowstorm unless you’re ready for a challenge with those drifts, but other than that, I’ve seen stock cars make it just fine as plenty of ice climbers take there trucks down there to access all the climbs in the winter.

@@Chase_Schrader I have not been down there in years because last time i was out that way in winter it was closed off with a gate at the end. and certainly was not ploughed. im surprised that they ploughed it all the way to the far end, , the only vehicles i saw using the road were skidoos but as i say that was a while ago, i have never been since thinking it was closed, I will have to take a look this winter, last time i was down that road was shortly after those kids went off the edge into the river in the truck, i only went as far as the no posts on that occasion. i will check it out if im out there this winter.
