Really loved the demonstration video Dan! I always use the #1 method, and also my own method, is i take a dropper and in a fast motion glide it across my kent comb so the teeth catch the beard oil the entire length of the smaller teeth side, then i take my comb and push up against the skin so the comb is greased up in beard oil and directly apply to the skin and then comb down, it works great, and my most favorite method, and I use both #1 method and my own method in the same routine. I've actually also combined #2 method along with my method, I directly apply the dropper to the skin under my beard, and then i'd use my comb in the way i described, my kent comb flat against the skin an sliding motion across my skin

I use method #1. I feel that you will get a more even coverage of the oil. Some thicker oils won't spread as easily as the thinner oils do and you need full facial hair area coverage with oil. I also agree with the amount variance from pump/treatment tops compared to droppers. I have used both and always seem to run out of the pump top oil before the dropper top. Glad to have you back home and to hear the family enjoyed Disney. Much love brother.

I’m a method number one guy. One thing I do as well with any leftover oil after I’ve worked it through is to focus on the ends if I find a split end or two. After trimming those off, I make sure that the ends of the hairs get enough hydration and nourishment to prevent further split ends (on top of lots of water and a good cowash). I’m hoping with the end of the dry winter weather, that will become less of a concern.
@DanCBearded

I do the exact same thing! I make beard into almost a ponytail with my hands and really apply oil to the ends. They are the oldest living soldiers (hair grows from the base), so they need some love

I figured most would say number one and that's the method I use as well. I believe it is the most effective way to distribute oil on your skin and through your beard. I have tried the other methods but quickly realized I was doing it right already. I was using a Kent comb until a couple weeks ago, but when I received Beard Octane's larger oxhorn comb by accident it changed my world. That comb is by far the best comb I've used, so I went ahead and bought another one.

I apply 1 drop of oil per 4 finger pads, rub together with other 4 finger pads and go through beard to skin. Sometimes I repeat this step for a total of 8 drops, depending on if beard has been freshly washed or if co washed only. I find that 4 drops is enough if I only co wash, and if freshly washed with beard wash 8 drops gets beard back to par. For mustache I put 1 or 2 drops in palm and run mustache comb through oil and brush it in making sure to get all way to skin. Sometimes I apply directly to skin with dropper for mustache, but I always seem to over do oil amount that way. I cant seem to get all way to skin using finger pad method on mustache. Thats the only place I have trouble with red flaky skin in past. Thanks to you Dan C on recommending the comb method, I haven't had any issues lately

I do the number 1 method. From what I've seen, everyone with a big and healthy beard does the number 1 method. They heat up the oil, start from the bottom and work their fingertips onto their skin and then come down on the beard. It works best for me, my beard always feels soft and hydrated. And the growth is showing. I've never felt like I needed to change that up. Btw, Seven Potions beard oil is amazing!!! Always leaves my beard super soft for like 6 to 7 hours even when exposed to the elements.

My beard is about half your length right now but with your help I hope to have my David Letterman beard ready to go once the Covid-19 horror is over and get back to work. My only problem area is my chin area so I make sure I get it worked in to my chin first then I work it throughout the beard.

My question would be, why do companies skimp out on oil and use a 1oz rather than a 2 or 3oz? Oils are really cheap and home made beard oil is extremely cheap and easy to do. I've googled costs etc and come to see that at a small scale with label a 1oz bottle can be made for $3-$4 max! But yet companies are asking $15+ for each bottle. Why not use a 2 or 3oz and raise that cost by a few bucks to justify that larger bottle. 1oz bottles have always bothered me and a question I have. Sounds dumb lol but maybe you can put light on it
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 5 жыл бұрын
A main reason is because a 1oz bottle looks better. Seems silly, but true. Also, a lot of guys collect beard oils and they do experince usually around 2 years. 1oz oil is more likely to be used before expiring. Also, they want customers to return quicker Haha 👊

Doh! Lost audio, on intro again. Do you get snags around the mustache? I've been having that issue, the longer it gets. I've been accidentally yanking hairs lately when I comb. I tr died using g a brush, but it doesnt get in there quite as good.

Stupid editing rendering lol I am working on KZbin editing side now, I think I can add it in without having to re-upload. Thanks for the catch, things like this drive me crazy lol I get the mustache catching sometimes but nothing too bad

Give a Kent comb a try. They are hand polished and don't pull hairs. Best comb ever man it's all I use.
