This is the 3rd video in a series about the BladeRunner table top saw.
This saw is basically an inverted jigsaw with some very nice features at a very reasonable price. This saw can cut several different types of materials (using the appropriate blade) including wood, metal, and ceramic.
In this episode, we try making some curved cuts.

Thanks for the thorough multi-part review, I just ordered one, after having fits trying to clamp down a small piece of plywood for a scrowl cut with a handheld scroll saw. I planbto leave itmon one end of my 12ft workbench, for use on small jobs not justifying setting up my 10" jobsite table saw. Of course, I'll still use my handheld saw for cross- cutting 2x4s and 2x6s.

I purchased this saw and finally got the nerve to start using it because of you! I made a few cuts last night to get a feel for it. I will watch the rest of the series before I start on my projects. Your videos are the most informative I've found, by far! I would have given up and returned it without this series since the instructions are a joke. I haven't found much help on KZbin beyond a quick overview other than your videos. Unboxing and review videos just don't go into the detail you have taken the time to do. I subscribed to your channel and will check out other topics after I finish this series. Thank you so much!

Thank-you for your kind words Miranda. I'm glad my videos are of help to you. I started this channel over 2 years ago when I looked for videos about the Bladerunner but only found videos that left me with more questions than answers. I am planning to make some more videos about actually using the Bladerunner. If there is anything you'd like to see an upcoming video, just let me know. Enjoy the saw and thanks for watching.

Finally......a perfect video that’s actually about this saw in action within what it’s best “limited” uses are for. (Your series of videos have me feeling comfortable in making a purchase.) My take away is now, that even a pro, “can” have a use for this saw for those small detail projects (around any job site) where light mult-use needs make most sense. Thank you for a very pragmatic presentation of this tool.

I have watched all 3 videos - very nice review. I especially like seeing the saw n action. This seems to be a lightweight project saw. I have heavier equipment I can use for big projects, but this seems like it would be a handy versatile saw that would be useful for quick cuts and small projects. Thanks for posting.

If I wanted to cut a 60" 2x4 length wise, do you think I'd have an issue?
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the BladeRunner would really struggle with that cut. I suggest using a circular saw. There is a video on my channel showing me cutting a 2x4 lengthwise using a circular saw. Keep in mind that the BladeRunner is best suited for making short cuts out of soft materials, the thinner the better.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 5 жыл бұрын
A table saw could also work.

Awesome video! Have you tried curved cut really thick wood like 2x4 or even thicker? I wonder 3" would be workable.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my video. The thickest piece of wood I have cut with the Bladerunner is 1.5". The height of the blade is the limiting factor. In my video, I show that the Bladerunner cuts a 2x4 VERY slowly. Because it took so long to make a straight cut through the 2x4, I didn't try a curved cut.

Question: Are you trying to re-do the binding on your book or digitize it? I did a little research and found an interesting channel you might want to check out. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHSoioxrrbaUbJI ). After seeing a couple of videos on that channel, it seems others have tried to use some kind of power equipment to remove the binding (I have not tried using the BladeRunner yet). I hope this helps.

Hi there, have you used this saw without the holder arm on top? I would,like honour hase this saw and cut something 3ft tall and wide. That will require me to not use the upper arm. Is this doable?
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have used the saw without the upper arm in place. However, when doing so, I found the wood may jump up as I was cutting. One of the purposes for the upper arm is to keep the wood flat against the table. I do think I would not try to cut such a large piece on the BladeRunner. Instead, I would support the wood on some saw horses and then use a regular jigsaw to make the cut. If the cut needs to be very straight, I would use a circular saw and a saw guide. Hope this helps.

Hi there, I purchased this saw and returned it the next day. I am use to using a scrollsaw. This saw uses a wider blade and I can't stop myself from trying to do small close turns like I do with my scrollsaw. I think this has it's uses but it's not for me.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 5 жыл бұрын
Mytoy2: Scroll saws can make tighter turns than the BladeRunner but there are narrow "scrolling" jigsaw blades that make tighter turns possible; just not as tight as a scroll saw. Thanks for you comment.

I have used the "scroll saw" blades from the other blade set to make cuts with tighter turns and they worked out great. Thanks for your question.
@ImaginethenMake

I have also used the metal cutting blade to cut some 1/4" x 20 threaded rod. One of the real advantages of the Bladerunner I think, is being able to change the blade very quickly allowing you to switch between cutting different materials.
@algorel4763
@algorel4763 6 жыл бұрын
Imagine then Make I agree. The time it takes me to change out my bandsaw blade, I can cut many pieces with this Machine. I like the fact that it is a heavy duty scroll saw. Drill a hole put your piece over it and cut. Can’t do that with a band saw, unless you cut and weld the blade. This is a nice addition to your woodworking area!

It appears to be a versatile machine, but cuts pretty slowly. Does it seam under-powered? Just a note: best not to cut at the line. Detail the cut with a spindle sander. Thanks for posting will real world examples. Have a great day friend.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 7 жыл бұрын
Thank-you for your comment. Yes, the saw does cut slowly compared to say a circular saw, chop saw, or table saw. But the slow speed is part of what makes this saw safer to use I think. This saw is also very portable. I had a small project to do at work and brought this saw in to use. It worked great and I got the project done in a few hours.
@algorel4763

The stock Rockwell blades that comes with the machine are not the best. Try other brand blades and it will cut much faster.
