I just got one in 2023 and it's good to know the blade is adjustable in the housing. I haven't used mine yet, but when I do I will check if the blade is square, or not. Thanks.

Thanks for making these videos on the bladerunner little table-saw. Your tips are helping me make more accurate rips and cross-cuts. The one hack that I did with mine was to adjust the bracket that holds the two bearings that help keep the blade level. On mine, the gap was a bit large which allowed for the blade to deflect. So I just unscrewed that piece and bent the metal bracket to lessen that gap. The bracket is pretty hardy, so I'm not worried about it breaking. Now I just need to mount the saw to a sturdy table and I'll be all set.

Thank you sooo much. I adjusted the motor mount hex bolts dramatically diagonally. Made a hex tool by cutting the hex wrench where it curves; inserted the straight hex wrench into a 12" drill extender and tightened the screw on it and then was able to reach the hex nuts. Took a number if tries but finally succeeded.

Helpful video. Reviews have been all over the place and difficult to categorize the poor reviews. Now I think it is settled - the alignment can be adjusted to cut straighter. It looks like that adjustment requires trivial tooling. (But it does require flipping the unit upside down). With this I think I can justify the purchase. Hope you get kickbacks!
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan. Yes, I do get "kickbacks" when you use the Amazon affiliate link in the video description to make your purchase. It doesn't cost you anymore to use the link, the purchase price is the same whether you use my link or not. If you do use my link, you have my thanks and Amazon pays me a small commission. About cutting straighter: I tend to use the BladeRunner without the fence and the blade arm; I simply follow my cut line manually. I will also use a heavy weight to help hold the work piece down to the table. At about the 9 minute mark in this video; kzbin.info/www/bejne/jV7EfI2ihLuBoqs , you'll see what I mean. The key is to let the blade do the work and to not push the wood too hard. If you are going to make a lot of cuts one right after the other, I suggest having a second blade ready. After your 1st cut, the blade is likely to be at least warm if not hot. Change the hot blade for a room temperature blade because a hot blade dulls quicker. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

Hi Jason. In the last project I did using a Bladerunner, I made some straight cuts without using the fence. Here's the link to that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jV7EfI2ihLuBoqs . Look around the 9 minute mark. Also notice the heavy weight I am using to help keep the workpiece down while making the cut (so I don't have to use the hold-down foot). If you decide to try cutting this way, you will probably find that you don't need to worry too much about the motor adjustment. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

it occurs to me that 'squaring' the blade also cuts down on drag which would mean the unit will cut faster & easier. also less heat build-up. SO informative & i wouldn't have thought of it. it helps that the overall design is so simple. LOVE your funky little title intro. 🤓
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 4 жыл бұрын
Most of the time, I am cutting wood freehand while following a line drawn. I think 'squaring' the blade helps most when using the fence, crosscut sled or miter gauge; anytime the side of the blade is referenced to another flat surface. See the video description for the music credits. I use several of this guys tracks in my videos. (I plan to someday, write my own music using Band-In-The-Box.). Thanks for watching and your comments.

I appreciate your extended review on this machine. I ended up getting the WORX version and the Rockwell cross cut sled. Luckily my table was aligned correctly. So I made sure those motor screws were tight and I made some markings so it helps as an alignment guide if it ever gets out of whack. I'm surprised that the company didn't add some kind of markings to make it easier for us to check the alignment.

@@ImaginethenMake Thank you! I notice you started cutting without the shoe at the top. After you make the blade adjustment, are you able to get the wood passing the shoe and the vertical fin at the back if you have it?
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake Жыл бұрын
I have on a rare occasion gotten the wood to pass the vertical fin in the back. Most of the time now, when I use the Bladerunner, I use it without the arm like in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jV7EfI2ihLuBoqs . Remember that you are responsible for your own safety so if you do not feel safe using the Bladerunner without the arm, then don't do it! Thanks for your comment and for watching.
@zehuazhou3390
@zehuazhou3390 Жыл бұрын
@@ImaginethenMake I adjusted the blade and made sure it is well aligned. I also upgraded the blade to the BOSCH blade. Now it cuts way faster than the factor blade, probably also because of the alignment adjustment. I didn't get the wood to past the vertical fin so I had to stop, and remove the fin and then continue. That's a bummer because now I have no way to use the vaccum port when that vertical fin is removed. But at least I got a pretty clean rip cut. Thank you for your videos.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake Жыл бұрын
You're welcome; I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. I agree that it is a bummer when the vertical fin gets in the way. The interesting part is that the original design had the arm on the right side of the table so there was no vertical fin to get in the way. Watch this video to see what they original design looked like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIvJZoV3n5uIpKM . To me, this earlier design looks much better; so why did they change it? I don't know. If you take a close look at the blade you'll notice that the front (the teeth) are thicker than the back due to the kerf of the teeth. The board will appear to be at a slant. If you clamp the board on the opposite side of the blade you might notice the board slanted the opposite direction.

I order the Bladerunner thanks to your videos from the Rockwell ebay store. It was a combo that included a new in box bladerunner, the wall mounts, sled and extra blades on top of the ones that come with it. Was excited to see the box out front yesterday. Well until I opened it and the unit was busted and none of the extras were included. Bummer. I contacted them and they replied today. I told them I wanted a new unit and the attachments. I've yet to hear back. So far, not a pleasant experience. We'll see how this ends.

I went to use mine this morning and noticed right away that the blade is not even close to being aligned. I'm not sure what happened (I don't use mine very often) but I'm sure I'd have noticed it before if it was that far off. I checked the blade (not bent) and reinserted it several times. There's no doubt I can't use it the way it is. So I went searching the interwebs and found this video. It looks like I'll be tearing into this after lunch. Hope there's lots of play in those mounting bolts.

Hi Dana. When you are not using the Bladerunner, do you keep a blade installed? I'm wondering if dust or some other small objects fell into the blade mounting mechanism that is preventing the blade from seating all of the way. Or maybe the mechanism is damaged in some way? I have seen when the blade is not seated all of the way down, it will rotate as the red button is released. Here is a very short video that shows the blade being installed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXK4gmZ8oK9lmpo . Is your blade twisting because it is not seated all of the way down? Also, here's a link to my Bladerunner playlist; maybe you'll find something in those other videos that might help you out. kzbin.info/aero/PLGCBwUeR2BD2SPSsV51qPBkK8p1grR-UL Thanks for your comment and for watching.

@@ImaginethenMake Yup, you're right. I flipped it over yesterday and was all ready to move the motor. Can't remember why, but for some reason, before I did that I flipped it back over and reinserted a blade. Lo and behold, it aligned correctly. So then I knew it had something to do with the insertion. I can't see anything in the hole. The rubber boot keeps me from seeing clearly but I did a lot of probing with a small screwdriver. I never found anything. After re-inserting about a dozen more times, there seems to be a sweet spot where it aligns right. I haven't really figured out what is the secret (I still get a mis-alignment about 50% of the time), but at least I know that the insertion is the issue.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the update Dana. Glad to see you're getting closer to figuring things out. Maybe try using a shop vac up against the insertion hole to suck out anything that might be in there that you can't feel with a screwdriver? I think the key might be to press the blade down all of the way so that when the metal ring rotates, it does not hit the blade and spin it. Thanks again for the update.

@@ImaginethenMake Well, I'm back. Now my misalignment problem happens nearly 100% of the time. To the point where it's unuseable. I've cleaned it and probed for any obstructions to no avail. And I've tried several different ways of getting the blade inserted before releasing the locking mechanism. No luck. Today I'll be tearing it apart to see if I can find the source of the problem. It's frustrating because the more I use my Bladerunner, the more I like it.

Regarding the blade alignment, blades are slightly wider at the cutting teeth than the back of the blade. I would do the same measurement attaching the piece of wood and clamp to the other face of the blade and compare before making any realignment.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your suggestion; I understand and agree with you. Most of the time now, I freehand cut using the Bladerunner (i.e. follow a line drawn on the piece of wood) so precise motor alignment becomes less critical. Thanks for watching.

@rivadeneiraluis 4 жыл бұрын
My Bladerunner came missaligned too, so I followed your method but testing both sides of the blade to get an almost perfect alignment. My concern is that vibration may end missaligning the whole thing again. Thank you for your instructional videos.

Late to the party here sorry. Thinking about getting this unit. For squaring up the blade could you have squared up the fence right up next to the blade with the motor loose and then clamp it and tighten the screws?
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake Жыл бұрын
Good question. I did not try to do that because the fence does not move always square to the table (like the fence on a traditional table saw). This was disappointing to me when I first realized this. However, I still think that making the blade reasonably square with the table makes it easier to make good cuts. I hope my reply makes sense. Thanks for your comment and for watching. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask.

@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake Жыл бұрын
The short answer to your question is, yes, you can make freehand curved cuts using the Bladerunner. Like anything else though, there are limits. To make a fairly tight curved cut using the Bladerunner, try using a scrolling jigsaw blade. Keep in mind that the there are limits as to how tight a curve even the scrolling blade can make. If you can, try cutting relief cuts around the the curve. I made a couple of videos that you might find useful and may answer your questions with more detail. Good question. If the stainless steel you want to cut is very thin, it might work; I'm not sure. Keep in mind that the blade moves very quickly so it will heat up very quickly. The heat will turn a sharp blade dull very fast. If you decide to try it, please leave a follow-up comment here and say how it went. Thanks for watching.

Most of the time, I use the BladeRunner to make freehand or curved cuts (not using the miter gauge or fence). I try to cut as close as I can to the cut line I've drawn on the wood and then rasp, file, and sand to the line. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

Hello Ricky and thanks for your comment and for watching. If you can't get a BladeRunner then I would suggest getting a scroll saw. It won't cut as quick but it can cut much more accurately and can cut different materials besides wood. Some time ago, I made a video comparing the scroll saw to the BladeRunner and bandsaw. Here's the link if you'd like to have a look: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4eqkmeZis-SpLs

I had the same alinement problem with a portable table saw. I had to loosen the motor mounts and true the blade. I couldn't understand why my cut didn't come out right. That should be done at the factory.

Yes, I agree Richard, the motor should be properly aligned at the factory. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

I haven't used mine in a long time. It shakes/vibrates too much. Any idea what would cause this. I make sure the presser foot is down, so it's not that.

To try answer your question, I'm wondering what kind of material you are trying to cut? Also, how new is the blade? If you are cutting thin wood with a new/sharp blade, there should not be too much vibration. If you are cutting metal over 1/8" thick, there can be more vibration, especially with a dull blade. Try a new blade and try not to press the work piece into the blade too much; let the blade do the work. Thanks for your question and for watching. Please let me know how you make out.

I saw a video of this 'saw' ripping laminate flooring. I cannot believe this is a viable tool for this job as anyone knows laminate flooring will kill a TC blade in double quick time. Therefore is there a Rockwell jigsaw blade that they would have been using and have you any idea how many cuts it would last. Frankly I'm sceptical if this saw is man enough to us on said laminate. ?
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 5 жыл бұрын
Fair question. This saw uses standard t-shank blades available from many different manufactures. I've never cut laminate flooring so I can’t answer your question directly. If you really want to know if this saw will work for you, I would recommend purchasing the saw from a store or website that allows you to return it if it does not work out for you. I do not consider this saw to be of professional quality; more like a DIYer quality. Depending on how many cuts you need to make, perhaps this saw will work for you.

Thanks for your question. I haven't had to buy parts so I'm not sure. I did a quick google search....try looking here: www.ereplacementparts.com/rockwell-rk7320-bladerunner-parts-c-106259_106267_170953.html .... There is also a phone number you could try. Why was the Bladerunner shaking?

Imagine then Make Thanks for the response, I did checked the website you sent me but unfortunately the part is discontinued. I just finished taking the blade runner apart and thinking about installing a Dewalt jigsaw to the table. I really like the design of the table, it has great features like fence and arm. Anyhow thanks for the help and keep sharing.

I'm not surprised. Luckily, it is a pretty easy fix to make. Most of the time now though, I use the BladeRunner to make freehand cuts (moving the workpiece by hand following a cut line drawn on the wood). Consequently, having the blade "perfectly" square to the miter slot or fence is less important. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

Im wondering how good this saw would be in ripping longer pieces of wood like 5 or 6 ft
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. It is possible to cut boards that long with this saw however, I don't think the BladeRunner would be the best tool for that job. I would suggest using a table saw. Even an inexpensive table saw will have a better fence, a more powerful motor, and a faster moving blade. Also, IMO, a table saw is potentially more dangerous to use so be sure to read and follow the safety guidelines. Another option would be to consider using a circular saw and a straight edge or perhaps a track saw. Good luck, be safe, and thanks for watching.

I have my blade square to the fence but when using the top, which I almost always do for dust collection, the wood wedges in in the back. I usually 'flare' the rear out a few mm to accommodate this but that compromises getting square cuts. Annoying...

Yes, I understand. Sometimes I take the top arm off when making long cuts to avoid this problem.

It looks like you will have to center the motor unit after (every ten or so cuts). What say yoyu?
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. I have not checked the motor unit centering since making the video. I will check it soon and share what I find in a follow-up video. So far, the majority of cuts I've made using the Bladerunner were done freehand following a line drawn on the wood or following a paper template glued down to the wood. I also tend to prefer using scrolling T-shank blades. I think those kinds of blades makes it easier to follow the line. I recently purchased blades with teeth on both the front and back edge. I plan to try them out and make a video to share my results soon.

Any thoughts on this device cutting acrylic blocks
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 6 жыл бұрын
Actually, I have not tried cutting acrylic using the Bladerunner. "Blocks" suggests you want to make pieces with right angles so I would try using the fence. Also, I think the thing to watch out for is cracking and also overheating (melting) the plastic. I would think you could avoid cracking by using a fine tooth blade. And to avoid overheating, cut a little bit, then pull back to let the piece cool, then cut some more. If you are looking for a finished edge, I would imagine you'd need to sand the cut with fine grit sandpaper. I hope this helps.

Man you really overstate everything - you spent more that 2 minutes telling/showing us the blade is off square... do you feel you are talking to 2 year olds? "it's difficult, if not impossible to see on the camera, but if you were here in my shop and I showed it to you, I would hope that our eyes would see the same seeing that i'm seeing"... guess what, it's not difficult to see!!!

Many of those blades if not all of them are a staggerd toothed design making this aligning blade to fence method totally innacurate and pointless.
@ImaginethenMake
@ImaginethenMake 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Garry. There's no doubt that there are MANY different designs for jigsaw blades. Some blades have the teeth in line with the blade body and some blades have the teeth set off to the side. A quick Google search for "jigsaw blade types" will show anyone interested, a quick look at the various types available. I also want to say that the accuracy of any cuts made on the Bladerunner is affected by all kinds of factors including tool setup and user skill/experience. IMO having the tool properly aligned (setup) can only help (not hurt) cut accuracy. Thanks for your comment and for watching.
