I am not shy about my thoughts on clones. I am not a fan of most of them, as they usually don't measure up to the original fragrance for me.
But there are cases where they suffice as a fine replacement.
In this video, I'll simply share with you 6 clones of 3 best-sellers: Bvlgari Tygar, MFK BR540, and Creed Aventus. 3 of the clones I can easily recommend you check out, and the other 3...well, maybe tread lightly.

I bought Untold when it was at Peak Hype, wore it a few times, and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. That being said, I haven't worn it since. I have the issue we collectors all face. There are too many options 😅.

Untold is extremely synthetic. Alcohol tinge overload. Best BR540 replacement I've tried is Trajan from Electimuss. It's better than the original imo.

Montagne parfums and Alexandria fragrances are my favorite clone houses. No clone house can replicate to a tee, but these houses produce juice that smells of great quality. Armaf and Dua can be hit or miss in terms of how synthetic they smell. But even most of my Dua and Armaf fragrances smell great in the air, just not when you’re burying your nose into it. Also if you love the original please just buy that, you’ll almost always be disappointed with clones if you’re expecting the exact same smell. I like buying clones of the most popular fragrances and spend more money on smaller less well known niche houses like Zaharoff. I also have very little sympathy for the luxury designer/niche houses. They seem to be doing just fine given their constant price increases. Kind of crazy how people can get so worked up about fragrant juice 😂 Keep up the great content.

I've not found many "clone" frags that wow'd me. KZbin has been oversaturated with clone fragrance content so its always good to get your take. I love Mancera so I'll sample Instant Crush. Thanks for keeping it REAL.

The problem I see going on is a lot of the originals have proformance issues and most of the clones give you a long last for less money , while the originals charge top dollar and can not hang !!!!

You deserve plenty of credit for admitting something many of us suspect - that Fragrance World in Canada is shipping freebies of the middle eastern clones like Untold to YT reviewers for free on behalf of the companies. The other reviewers fail to mention it. On the other hand, Instant Crush is very good. Zara's For Him Red is also a very good clone of BR540 and a fraction of the price of Instant Crush. I have both. As for Parfums Vintage, although I'm sure their sales are better than this, it seems like more reviewers have their offerings than actual purchasers as there's so little mention of the brand in the groups. Why don't they ship a load of bottles to Fragrancenet so older batches could be sold at discount? It would at least create some renewed word of mouth since their initial introduction about 7 years ago.

Justin, love that bottle of Brioni Edp Intense in the background. Definitely one of my favorite pick ups this year. Karrine Vinshon Spehner was a co perfumer on that. She’s done some bangers for Amouage. I love Fate and Boundless. Great video as usual!

I agree with you about Instant Crush by Mancera very close to Baccarat Rouge 540. I also love that fact that is not as sweet as BR540. I did a side by side and had my with and daughter smell both, and they both chose the Mancera. Did I mention that if you are lucky, you can find it on sale for under 100 dollars compared to 500 dollars.

Interesting take. I smelled untold recently and it hit me in certain way. In an ambivalent way, but biased towards the no. At this stage, eventually I'll have to try BR540 and instant crush before I write off the DNA. Aventus has toooo many clones/dupes. That being said, I don't like the heavily citrusy version. But the pineapple is ok. I had Pineapple Vintage classic and it took a while to appreciate that. Might try other versions from that brand eventually.

Club Deniut "Untold" is actually really good. So is Al Haramaine "Amber Ruby Oud" which is another clone of Bacarat Rouge 540.

Hey Justin can you talk about Green leather by Daniel Josier, I brought this fragrance like 3 years ago and I absolutely love it but for some reason regular people hate it and I don’t think it smells bad, the fragrance is sweet, fresh and feels like a little bit floral but a lot of people think that smells bad🙁

I understand why people purchase clones and the role they serve in the marketplace. That said, they're not for me and I'll try to use an analogy to explain why. I can go on the internet to see a depiction of DaVinci's Mona Lisa. I can look up a photograph of the painting in a book. I can even see the image on a post card, a picture puzzle, or a poster. No matter how well those versions are done, they still do not compare to seeing the original painting. That's how I view clones. Regardless of how similar they are, they are still not the original. Something is still missing from the copy.

Hmm, I respect this opinion ofcourse, But The Armaf Untold must just smell bad on him, cause it's so smooth the entire wear on most folks I speak to and to those who compliment me on it, but hey to each their own I suppose. I'd recommend Untold to anyone who likes BR540. I absolutely respect the recommendations to affordable clones as well.

It would be great if everyone wore fragrances, so if clones get people in the game, then that's great. To me, there are too many great fragrances out there to reach for a clone, why not just get a decant of the original. Maybe I like indie houses more because fewer people are likely to wear the scent in the first place and there won't be clones.

Thank goodness. I watched this video before I commented because I *hoped* with all my heart that they hadn't gotten to you too, and you were now backing some $50 stank, synthetic, unethical, guady clones like 95% of other KZbin reviewers. If they'd gotten you to sell out too, I think I'd have just retreated back to my own little fragrance loving world with no one to talk about it and me just buying whatever I thought would smell nice. I understand why you used this title, but I think I would call these "alternatives" instead of clones. Aside from the fact that most afore described clones open with a chemical stench that makes me want it no where near me, let alone on my skin, I think it's unethical and lazy to ride on the coattails of anothers' sucess. That's what most of the clone houses do - they steal others' ideas and profit from them - with the exception of Pineapple Vintage. I truly believe that house wants to provide a more cost friendly alternative, in addition to a fantastic range of desired mixtures and combinations. I still don't agree with the blatant copy of someone else's work, but I do feel like they are trying to improve on their take of it - not peddle something that (might) cost $5 to make and convince (pay) people to tell others it smells the same as a $500 product. I don't like the cost of fragrances either. As a matter of fact, it's gotten absolutely ridiculous lately. But I loathe clone houses and all they stand for. Sorry for the book, and people can hate on this all they want. I said what I said, and I feel how I feel. Everyone has a right to their own opinion - and they needn't be the same. I agree on Untold... it's not it. The original is just special, despite being so synthetic. As far as the Tygar DNA, I prefer the Montabaco line (with the Intensivo being the most similiar and best performing) or Aqua de Dora (which adds fig) from Pana Dora. For Aventus, I honestly really like Armaf CDNIM Limited edition. It's a bit of a spin on the DNA and it works really well. For the Parfums Vintage line, I think Galerius is their best rendition of the Aventus vibe. It tones down the syrupy pineapple in Emperor edp and adds some anise, making it reminiscent of 2016 batches. It's worth a sample.

I would almost say Arrakis has a spice to it, maybe like a Melange spice, a fast dry down, sort of a very powdery desert like dry down. I've heard the ingredients are heavily guarded by giant sand worms but if you can learn to ride one... you'll be able to make all the Arrakis perfume in the universe.
