Waking up with frozen feet surely wasn't that nice, but the immense GRATEFULLNESS of knowing I get to return back the warmth and comfort of home is amazing. All worth it. Strangely I was able to sleep for several hours, despite having very cold feet. My core temperature remained at safe levels.

Some things I would do differently. 1. Sleeping next to water is much colder and there is much more moist as water is evaporating. Morning video with stones covered with ice proves this. 2. Sleeping next to the rock is also much colder unless the day was really sunny - rocks accumulate both heat and cold. Also, humid air will condensate on rocks. There should be a lot of reindeer moss (reindeer lichen) in this forest. I would put dry reeds on top of it for extra insulation. I would do this around 30 meters from the lake. Water is a warmth killer.

I agree. The shelters could be better. The hatchet isn't needed for little things. I just stomp on branches. Gather up a huge pile. Gather all kindling. Grab huge logs. I'll put on my channel what I do because it's more of a trained survival tactic. Especially when it's cold. First things first

Stacking the rocks to make a wall and then covering the rocks with dead tree and lining the floor with dead tree would help keep you much warmer. Covering any open cracks and lots lots of the dead tree branches would be better.

The axe is a waste of time all i need is knife and little saw . Good video 👍
@archi-mendel5 ай бұрын
This depends on the trees you work with, what you are doing, and what axe you are talking about. Limbing is much easier with an axe and in an environment author lives in (I assume this is somewhere in Finland or Sweden) there are lots of spruce trees. Limbing spruce trees is hard as limbs are rather flexible and there are lost of them on the whole length of the dead tree. With good large axe (70 cm ~ 30 inch handle, 1kg head ~ 2.5 lb head) cutting wood is rather quick, if you've got a right technique. Firing large logs is easier with axe as you can make chips on their surface to catch the fire. Also, axe makes a great handle for carrying logs around :D While I do agree that saw is more convenient in a lot of cases, good axe is a better all-round survival tool for someone who knows how to use it.

Trees- hold warmth, provide shelter, stop wind. Builds shelter right next to water on rock
@BozoBob0036 ай бұрын
Need to spend a little more time on the shelter to keep the wind, coldness, the wetness out, better the shelter is a big difference, I've camp out when I was much younger and had to rely on what was at my disposal to be comfortable as possible especially when it's freezing, snowing, windy, and a nice big fire makes all the difference, block the wind as best you can. I why don't you have a fire going at night, I would collect so much firewood to keep it going as long as possible thru the night and with those stones, which need to be careful cause wet ones could be an issue around the fire, I would block that fire with the stones to reflect the heat towards you and keep the wind off the fire as much as possible, In situations where your life depends on it have to do the best with what you have cause it can Go downhill quickly especially if you get wet, but great job at what you do and keep it up, keep the videos coming. !!!!
This isnt survival. The guy just went to sleep and managed not to freez until morning ))
