Great video - thank you AoB. I really love that camo pattern btw! This is the first time I've seen a Finnish candle (burning from the bottom) rather my normal Swedish candle that burns from the top down. I want to experiment with this so looks to me that packing too much frozen or other material inside will stifle normal combustion air and what I would call "flame space". I'm no pro but with the size and height of your logs, either we need better initial temperatures, less compact mid-upper layer or possibly leave a complete mid layer gap between low Finnish and high Swedish? That was seriously frozen wood and you showed us your skills to make the fire options regardless. In hindsight, possibly feather the logs to help? You're inspirational to me as an enthusiast and hope you keep up the real extra efforts it takes to share lots more of these videos with us here. Salute.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you liked it, I try to make high-quality videos. You are right, the Finnish candle burned poorly and incorrectly due to frost and humidity. But somehow it burned and it makes me happy.

I remember when I was in Jr High this old survival guy took all the kids that wanted to go up to the top of this ski hill and we made snow caves. Probably one of the best times I had in Jr High. Surprising how warm it was in the cave. Just make sure and make the inside like a dome or it will drop down quite a ways.

@@AgeofBushcraftAt 3:46 you have your right hand above your left hand which is backward and awkward for a left-handed person. In this part of the clip, you are definitely chopping on the wrong side of the tree with a right-hand grip. To chop efficiently on this side of the tree you should have your grip reversed with the left hand above the right. I am not arguing with you just wondering why your hand position is backward from convention. Whatever works.
