Enjoyed your video. I've lived here for 9 years and it's been amazing to watch it grow. There are many surprising cheap or free things to do. The malls threw me when i first moved here too, but then i realized it's a desert, and malls are indoor so they do everything here, not just shop: banking, bills, eating, recreation. Ibn Battuta is my favourite, designed based on the famous world traveler's adventures. You don't have to buy, just observe. And getting out of town.... in the last few years, the UAE has invested a lot in natural activities all over that are free or cheap. Restored forts, parks, hiking, beaches, etc. I love living here!
@GeologyOnTheMove5 ай бұрын
Also, I was thrown that you didn't ride bikes or scooters. So glad you followed the rules, but I have never, ever seen people on those wear either helmets or vests. I have my own bike that I ride (nice tracks by the way) so I see them everywhere. Never seen people do that so I was shocked to hear that was a rule.

And yes, I am sad about the grand mosque in Abu Dhabi with the mall. You used to be able to drive right up to it and go anytime. But too many people now. A good alternative is the Grand Mosque in Fujairah. Second largest by worshipers in UAE. And no one there!

I haven't caught up with your videos for ages for no known reason, but watching your Dubai vlog today has been fantastic. So very interesting. I have never been to Dubai so it was so interesting to see what you experienced. I loved the tour in the dunes - wow, that was so good. And the whirling dervishes!!! Amazing. Such a terrific video. Thanks so much.

Hi Josh & Lisa! We didnt’ know you were gonna be visiting Abu dhabi, we could have given you a tour😂. Abu dhabi is more laid back and less metropolitan than Dubai, here you can just go the beach in the Corniche area and chilled for free or roamed around the parks, or visited zoos. And there are tons of cafeterias and Baqala (read as bakala) / store for cheap food and most of the malls are near each other. Thank you for your effort to immerse yourself in the spirit of Ramadan and for noticing minute details of the life here in the UAE and the workers who are the lifeblood of this country.

"It felt like Dubai had nothing at all" Most of the markets you went to were places that rip off tourists, which are the same in every city around the world. Dubai is not only Old Dubai VS Downtown. Make your judgment after visiting suburban areas of Dubai where Emiratis live which are laid back and offer great nature (Hiking, National Parks, Desert camping - All great in winter). Of course there's no "depth" in the biggest ring in the world. Venturing outside of guided tours and metro stations would also be cheaper as non-touristy areas don't charge money for entry, so renting a car would be worth it. You could also visit other Emirates easily that way and maybe go to the east coast and the mountains. Either way I'm glad you enjoyed your time here :)

I'm also stubborn about Japanese TV. I'm not interested in movies, comedians, or KZbinrs, I'm just a KZbinr who just buys a bimall iPhone and streams it. My image is being tarnished by the people around me, so this is where it comes from. I want my family's life to be better too. If I had one thing, I wouldn't be able to do it.I did a lot of things and got a lot of hate for being greedy, but I hope it's a good thing.
