Lebanon is such an amazing country with ski resorts, stunning Med coastline, the best food in the world plus exceedingly friendly people where Muslims and Christians live peacefully side by side. A sad day for a country on its knees already over the pandemic. My heart goes out to all the Lebanese people 🙏😓🙏

I lived in Beirut in the 50's, 60's and into the 70's. Your statement about Muslims and Christians "living side by side", is only partly true. It was an uneasy partnership for many years, but it existed with many successes, UNTIL the influx of the so called, and dreaded, PALESTINIAN REFUGEES, and that's when it began to fall apart . . . It got worse, and worse, until civil war nearly destroyed it. This wonderful and beautiful country, which I still love, remains struggling to recover from that invasion from it's Southern borders . . . I pray that it may someday return to the serenity that I knew in the 1950s and 1960s Sorry to introduce the truth to interrupt your dream world.
