Okay, so I'm watching a Samsung Galaxy S4 "unboxing" video and realise that I looove the sound of the box opening and the plastic inside scraping against the box. Strange. So I look up "paper scrunching", thinking it's a long shot...and today have discovered the world of ASMR. It is a fascinating subject. Thank you and hello from Scotland :)

When I was a child (1982-83, I was 4 or 5), my mom had a set of bowls like the one you are using. Totally cool to see you have one! Maybe it's a reproduction. Either way, it's totally visually nostalgic for me. :)

I'm a typical college student who waited until the last minute to write a four-page essay. Needless to say, I'm a bit stressed and upset with myself for procrastinating. But then I found this. I immediately turned off my lights, lit a candle, and had this video playing in the background. I'm beyond relaxed right now. My favorite part of this is the water droplets from the handwashing part. This was incredibly relaxing, thank you so much. You can bet I will be watching your videos much more often

+smoot235 Because it hasn't been researched what ASMR is and why people experience it and others don't. That's the reason why there aren't workshops or ASMR live sessions as far as I know.

Are any of us EEG techs? Normal EEGs have several elements, and one is deep relaxation, where the client is asked to recall a very pleasant memory and begin falling asleep. Some people ask for assistance in conjuring up a perfectly serene and tranquil thought. It would be easy to put you on a projector in the EEG lab. All you'd have to do then is get them to sign a study release form, so we could collect a pool of data showing the electrical changes in their brains during your video. You could compare that to the results from those who thought of their own peaceful, relaxing moment, and then you would have science. By the way, places like Germany and Sweden are very liberal with their diagnostic equipment. I don't know about Canada. But in a city such as Toronto, you should be able to find a private radiology lab that charges fees out of pocket to anyone wanting a test that is not requested by a doctor. Those are the labs that would be most likely to agree, once we find a video that will trigger most of them within twenty minutes. It doesn't take that many results to turn a theory into a scientific finding, but 100 would be a good start.

Jonathan Palmer Thank would be very amazing and it's a very interesting idea! The problem is, because everyone is different test results of just me wouldn't be enough to make it a science would they?
@tellusastoryplease
@tellusastoryplease 10 жыл бұрын
The Scientific Method is a recipe to make anything into recognized science. It calls for lots of note-taking, then observation of the subjects, then making an educated guess as to how they will behave in in experiment, then you do the experiment, and gather all our data. If it matches what you thought would happen, you publish your findings and notes so that another scientist can use the same exact steps you used to reproduce your results. If your he gets the same results you got, then it becomes full-fledged science. Depending on how you set up your experiment, you may not need EEG's. It will be a lot of work, though. And I suspect that is why it hasn't been done. Most people are too busy working to make money, and do not have time to contribute to the scientific community. But the ones who do are recognized in Science and History books forever. How cool would it be to score that kind of fame?
@tellusastoryplease

You can even experiment with group A, B, and C. For instance, I hypothesize that people who learn best by looking at things will be have Asmr triggers that relate to hearing, and that people who learn best by hearing will have visual triggers. There is group A and B. Smell is another possible trigger, and is strongly linked to memory. So maybe people who have a really hard time learning would be triggered by smells. There is group C. Not every difference needs to be it's own group. You just have to find out why each of the things that are different are different. Most of the time, there is some sameness that unifies groups of random unrelated things. For example the blocks I sent you are all different. Some are, big, some are small, some are cubes, some are cylinders, some are triangles, some were measured in the inch side of my ruler, some were measured on the millimeter side. But they are all sanded smooth, all varnished, all arrived in the same box, and all made of pine. So you have a pretty good idea the same person made them all.
@tellusastoryplease
@tellusastoryplease 10 жыл бұрын
it would also have to be a test that you could perform on people without them knowing what it was for. The person performing the test must not be able to influence or know the results, either. This is called double-blind, and ensures that your results could not have been changed by the subject(s) or the tester.

I am 66 and have had ASMR feelings for 30+ years. Various things set the feelings off; e.g., I have an audio cassette tape and at the end of the talk, the listener starts hearing someone sanding, probably a piece of wood. The sanding lasts around 15 minutes. It mesmerizes me. I used to listen to the tape just to hear the noise, and enjoy the euphoria it would give me. What a shock to now know that this has a name (ASMR) is a recognized phenomena. The role play is new to me. Still experimenting.

Hi Ilse, I just watched this video. Thanks for making it. As soon as I heard you played the straws, I got this idea of you playing with straw, fold it, make a loop at the end with it, dip it into a bubble maker solution and blow into the loop and make bubbles (that's how we play bubbles in our country rather than playing with a pre made bubble maker). It might be messy but just the thought of it makes me giddy. Hehe

Hi, Ilse, I have been watching your channel since you have posted this video, which was one of my first ASMR KZbin experiences. I am so happy I found it again and so happy you are still creating content. Thank you for all that you do 🙏
