Hi Maria I have 2 children with autism and one of them has trouble sleeping which is my 8 year old daughter and she hasn't slept in her own bed for ages as she has trouble with sleeping in her own bed and I'm constantly in her bed for a peaceful nights sleep. I was getting stressed and someone told me about asmr so watched your video on KZbin and felt so relaxed and started to watch your video alot more and felt so relaxed and wondered if it would work with my 8 year old daughter and put headphones on and sat with her and she fell asleep and everytime she gets anxious of sleeping I put your video on KZbin on my ipad for her to listen and she sleeps so I would love to thank you so much as your soft voice has helped my daughter who couldn't go to sleep on her own for years now goes to asleep on her own by listening to your voice xx

This is one of my favorite videos -- not only do I love the page-flipping (which is glorious), but I so enjoy the part where you're searching for books off-camera. For some reason, I love the sound of soft foot-tapping on a floor, especially when I can't see the person. (When I would take yoga, I loved it when we had our eyes closed in meditation and the yoga teacher would softly walk around the room barefoot on the hardwood floor.) Ahhh...the eccentricities of ASMR!

I have probably listened to this literally 100 times over the years. I couldn't find my headphones last night and couldn't sleep, but didn't want to wake my partner. So I tried watching the visuals of ASMR videos. I tried watching so many tracing videos because I find that relaxing and so many of them are so fast and abrasive I feel like at least to me. I love the way your hands just kind of have a flow to them. They're like an extension of your voice and the atmosphere you try to create in your videos. Not having sound was such a unique ASMR experience and it really got me thinking about how ASMR videos have evolved beyond just a sound experience.

the walking in the large room at the beginning gave me tingles. anyone else? some good early asmr experiences for me were in a quiet library -- someone behind me studying by reading aloud but in a quiet whisper, someone else softly chewing gum and reading. the reverb in the large space seemed to help. maybe the library idea is just triggering me.

Just because it doesn't relax you doesn't mean its not ASMR. I, for one, only get ASMR strongly from stuff like fabrics and books, but some people find food slupring relaxing (whereas I want to vomit when I come across a food slurping ASMR - its not relaxing for me but it doesn't mean other people don't or can't benefit) and that's fine, because we're all different :)
@prisonbreakchick074 жыл бұрын

Well said. Everybody has different triggers for ASMR. I for one enjoy slow page turning, soft speaking/whispering, deliberate counting of random items, and lice check role plays (particularly because it reminds me of when I was in school, we would get lice checks from time to time, and the very thin sticks they would use would produce such an intense tingling sensation that made it hard for me to concentrate, yet it was such a euphoric feeling at the same time, which is strongly related to what we experience nowadays, ASMR).

I always am hesitant to make suggestions, because I always love whatever content Maria happens to put out, but I would really love a video or a series of videos with Maria just... reading. It wouldn't have to be edited or with fancy mics, either. Anything she'd like to record, even just a reading of a book she wanted to read in her free time anyway. It could be a novel or a play or mythology or a short story or non-fiction or an article or poetry or a freaking maths textbook, I don't care. I just love her voice and whenever I try to listen to an audiobook or something, all I can think is, "I wish Maria were reading this!"

I only realised my associations a few years ago. In college if someone was seated behind me and turning pages, it was if a dreamy, swoony, mesmerizing feeling came over me in waves - starting in my head, almost from my forehead, if that makes sense. I'm sure it goes back to when I was a child, falling asleep with my head in my mums lap, whilst she read a book.
