I'm learning what my shop wish list is here. Serrated edges are kind of an abomination when it comes to sharpening. I once gound the serrations off a badly dulled blade and converted it to conventional edge on a kitchen knife.

Thank you for your time and efforts to put out this video. I see you performing many processes where your able to maintain angle by hand. I see that as a talent / developed skill not all of us have. I wonder if the manufactures of the guided angle sharpening systems have diamond rods that click in just like the flat diamond / stones for rookies like me can maintain a constant repeated angle.

Cliff, I wonder one could not use a diamond wheel if the serrations are smaller in size, Am I correct? Yes, one can do it manually, but I’d rather use something automated. Other than a belt splitter what would do the job with smaller serrations?

Impressive. Seeing you do it inspires me to get a couple of tools and learn some new techniques. Thanks The only thing I find a bit scary is having the sharp edge of the blade towards the belt. I destroyed a set of shears doing that.. Developing that 'touch' to prevent that can only be learned by experience. LOL, I don't want pieces of metal flying across the room ever again.

What a terrible harmony in your grinding methode! You can use an elastic rod beneath the grinding wheel to keep/hold the interval of the teeth! Normally it is not necessary to grind the whole 'valleys', beause only the peaks are dull. In most cases the 'shark'-teeth make you feel an unkomfortable Cut through bread!

Now to me that doesn’t sound like constructive feedback not at all. You know, sometimes in life we all have to be aware of our presentation and especially in text as it could have a much more of a subjective overly opinionated meaning. To me cliffs videos, as he even mentions himself, there are many ways to find serrated edge, and that the three he mentioned were ones that work for him or have in the past.

The best way to sharpen a serrated knife is to throw it in the garbage and spend 1/4 the time sharpening a straight edged knife. What's the point anyway? (pun not intended)

@michaelanderson2166 I see no reason to think this is true. In fact, as the tips do all the work, there is less linear cutting surface, and therefore it seems likely they dull faster.
