After nearly 60 years of no watercolor painting (even though I took watercolor classes and painted obsessively as a teenager) I decided to try again. Painting with watercolor like "coming home". The muscle memory is gone, there is so much practicing that needs to be done and there is so much I've forgotten. Which brings me to the reason I'm posting this comment. I cannot understand a word you are saying. I know the current trend is to talk fast, but anyone with hearing problems, or isn't around young people a lot probably is missing more than half of what you say. Judging from the visual part of the video, you have a lot of information and observations that I am clearly missing and want to understand. Please try to talk a little slower and I will use the repeat button. Thank you.
@Nianiani5 жыл бұрын
Oh that's very interesting. No one ever told me I talk fast before :/ In fact I thought that I talk slow compared to other ppl just coz I'm not a good talker xD Sorry about that. I'll try to slow it down, but I usually try to talk according to the timing of the video during a certain step. Maybe it might have something to do with my accent too since all over the place, american/australian/maybe a bit of indonesian without noticing haha I'll see where I can meet in the middle or if others mention the same thing, because I do have to cater to the majority of my audience and find a good balance. Maybe you can also turn the subtitle (CC) from youtube on to help? I know it's not the best and not 100% correct, but it'll probably be better thn trying to figure out what I say, if I babble too much. I really appreciate you, taking the time to type the long comment to let me know ^_^ I'm always open to suggestions and good constructive criticism. Hope you get into painting again soon :)

This is my first watercolor video; I’m wanting to try watercolors. What paints would you suggest for a first-timer? Should I just buy cheap kids’ paint to start? Will it be easier to learn with better paints?
@Nianiani5 жыл бұрын
Hi! This really depends on your budget. In terms of paint you can get cotman or van gogh which is a student grade if you have a good budget or use pentel if u have a smaller budget, but if you don't want to spend too much, hobby watercolours are also fine. It really doesn't make too big of a difference if you're really new. I think the paper is more important than the paint. Make sure you use watercolour paper instead of just thick print paper or something like that. I think 200-300gsm watercolour paper would be good, I use canson a lot and it's not too pricey :) and for the brush I'd recommend for you to use synthetic brush it's much easier to control and it's really cheap, so if you damage the hair, you can replace it easily. Hope this helps :)))
