My name is Brian Fitzgerald - I'm an Australian full time golf coach living in Melbourne and coaching at two venues. The Bayviews GC on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne and the Lang Lang GC in South Gippsland (both an hour and a quarter from Melbourne) where there are lot's of Kangaroos.
FAQ:
How long have you been a golf coach? I qualified as a full member of the Australian PGA back in 1985. Wow I don't feel that old.
Why do you make videos for KZbin? That is a great question and one I get asked a lot. I love helping people play better golf and people tell me I have a very unique coaching style that is very simple to understand. We really should do things simpler. I just make them to help people and if people like my videos they can either come for a golf lesson in person or if that is not possible you could join my membership program and I can then view your golf swing or any part of your game and really help improve what you do.
Do you always change some ones golf swing? To be perfectly honest I try not to. If I do try to change some ones golf swing I have to have a pretty good reason for doing so and the client has to be fully engaged and committed to both regular coaching and practice in order to make that change. Most people say they will do both with good intentions but most fall away pretty quickly.
So my preference is to change things that will improve their score easily. There are so many different ways to do this.
What do you film with? - I have a few few different cameras I use. An old GoPro Hero 4, an iPhone 6 and iPhone X, A Sony ZV1 and an old Panasonic Handy cam (I'm using that less and less now). I record my sound on an old iPhone 4.
What do you edit with? - About a year ago I switched to Adobe Premiere - prior to that it was Pinnacle Studio
Do you make money off KZbin? - Yes.It took me over 100 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense and then another 50 videos to make my next $100. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - Here's my ko-fi where you can buy me a coffee, beer or a burger should you wish (kind of like giving me a tip via : ko-fi.com/theg...
Thanks for watching!
Brian

Hi Brian, I always work hard on my chipping but have recently been focusing on plane; this has helped both with contact but more importantly accuracy. A quick glance at the middle of the shaft and imagining the take back staying on plane is my key to this. Thanks for your videos, they are always watched and there is always something in them for me.🏅

Excellent video Brian on your recommended drills for chipping. I've never used the one with the tee peg inserted into the ground in front of the ball. I noticed you play the ball back off your right instep. I like the one handed drill which I assume is with a preset wrist. Always learning and validating from you Brian! Keep up the good work!!

Thanks John. The tee drill and one handed chipping work really well but it might take a bit of getting used to. The camera angle makes it look like the ball is further back than it really was. Just back of middle is where it should be. Thanks for watching. Brian

Brian, I usually play the ball left of center because of the elevated shaft angle which more or less duplicates a putting stroke. I'll try your recommendation though and see if it's better! And, I do use hybrid on this shot as well with a putting set up!@@fitzygolfpro

Thanks for the tips Brian, recently I've been focusing on the front of the ball when chipping which seems to result in better contact for me, I guess it's a similar action to your tee drill by hitting through the ball? Have a great day

What are your thoughts on chipping with an open face to use the bounce more? I seem to get better contact using this method but is it a bandaid for a flaw in technique?
@fitzygolfpro

I would put that in the advanced category. It can work but it is not my starting point. If it works for you then keep doing it. Brian

A méditer... Bonne journée, Brian.

@@fitzygolfpro Perso, je n'ai pas ce problème, j'adore même jouer ces coups, et je dirais toujours avec l'intention de les rentrer. Je me suis inspiré de S.Ballesteros pour ses approches...mais je suis encore très loin du maitre 🤣🤣

Fitzy, Ryan Fox appears to hinge his club up by a few centimeters to initiate his swing. Any ideas on what this achieves?

It's a mannerism for him. He has probably done it all his life. I wouldn't necessarily try and copy it.
