Ted's a nomad, reminds me of Neil Peart, roaming the planet on his bike taking in nature and getting philosophical in the process. What I enjoy most about it is the ease in which he let's things be what they are while capturing that with his drone. These videos are always so relaxing and educational for me, Ted is my mentor in more ways than one.

@@TedNemeth Also I just signed up for your drone masterclass. I got my drone last November and have barely used it, mainly because of bad weather, but I really wanted to find a good course to stand me in good stead once I'm able to start flying it more regularly. I spent ages trawling the interwebs and came up with jack. Amazing that there's so little solid tutorial content out there. Your masterclass looks like it fits the bill perfectly 🙂

Great addition Ted. The cherished phrase "Think outside the box" really applies. I've been taking photographs for years, all from the ground. Being aerial adds so many opportunities to see things differently.

One pain point I had to figure out was over shooting... I'd go out for a flight and come back with way too much footage, made editing a pain. Now, I am more prone to think about the shots I need and grab them first, then I can get the creative/fun stuff. I was over thinking it before, trying to get ALL the shots versus what I set out to shoot. Thanks for your videos!

Loa Tsu once said "You cannot do anything, until you think you can"- I'm seeing how this can apply to being creative....I've never considered myself an artist, or artistic...I like your idea of starting with perhaps 10% as a good example.... you're sharing good wisdom....kind sir!

Respected Sensei, Your guidance has ignited the flame of motivation within me. The transition from the realm of documentary to the grandeur of cinematic storytelling is an endeavor I eagerly embrace. As a dedicated photojournalist, my perspective has been molded by capturing the essence of reality. However, your teachings have opened my eyes to a whole new dimension of visual expression. The shift from the journalistic gaze to the cinematic lens is a profound journey, and I am grateful for the profound insights you have shared. Your teaching has become a guiding light, illuminating the path towards a richer, more immersive storytelling experience. I am eager to explore this uncharted territory and weave narratives with a cinematic touch. Domo Arigato, Sensei, for imparting your invaluable knowledge. Your teachings have not only enriched my skills but have broadened my understanding of the visual language. I embark on this new chapter with profound gratitude and a deep sense of appreciation for the artistry you have illuminated. With sincere thanks, 里克 PS I hope you don't mind me having a little fun with the prose!

Ted, which setting did you say was important when flying fast and close to ground? Thanks
@TedNemeth9 ай бұрын
hey Ken! I’d say it depends HOW fast & HOW close to the ground. I fly in AUTO exposure 99.9% of the time. But that .1% when I switch to MANUAL exposure & an ND filter is when I’m flying VERY low and VERY fast: kinda like I’m trying to get an FPV style shot with a regular drone. So at what point do I make the switch? it depends on all the factors in the scene: how sunny is it, how fast is the drone moving, is the subject moving also? There is a point where the fast shutter speed of AUTO exposure looks a little too jittery. It becomes super easy to understand once you do your own testing. Record the exact same flyt path with a few different settings then review them on your computer. You quickly get a sense as to what settings & conditions you prefer. I think i need to make a dedicated episode on this soon. I don’t think this written explanation was very…clear.

Love the video, just shows it's the creator not the gear that makes the biggest difference. Want art? Get slo-mo... Air 2 can do 1080 240fps for 10x slo-mo. It's the daddy of drone slo-mo. Sorry for the outburst of gear geekery in your art class 😂

Obviously a Mavic 3 Pro Cine has the best image quality and features but way too big and heavy for me to pack on carry-on flight and motorcycle bag. That’s why I love the Mini 3 Pro. I’ve never tried the Air 3…..but dang that looks like the right compromise for me. But I tell ya….my Mini 3 Pro….i’ve never once wished it were more.
