Proper rudiment development takes hours not minutes, which is why there are practice pads and metronomes. Rudiments on a set is fine after you develop technique on a pad, not before. Boring as it seems, ts all about repetition. Self discipline away from video games and tv and the boredom threshold lowers and repetition of rudiments becomes less boring.

Bradwick1 true. Most of the masters played rudiments on a practice pad with a metronome to develop proper technique and that’s how they turned out the way they did with their mastery of them. Just hours of tapping away on a pad.

Yes, it does take hours and yes, it is most beneficial to practice for hours on end on a practice pad, BUT what's more beneficial than not practicing very much or at all because it's boring to you is practicing more often or a lot because you enjoy it. If you're someone who has conquered playing on a practice pad for 4 hours a day, congratulations, but not everyone will be doing that and not everyone has the goal of being the most technically talented player in the world. Some people just want to play drums, enjoy it and get better, but don't have the time or the desire to spend 4 hours a day with a practice pad and a metronome.
