(See below) We also play "TELL-A-STORY" The group makes up a story by adding one sentence at a time. Each next sentence adds just one new idea to the narration (in third person). I prepare "Titles" for the stories beforehand. The Voices Behind the Wall -----------Any generic title works. And the story might go like this: 1). He was sitting in the dining room eating dinner. 2). Suddenly he thought he heard strange noises. 3.) He looked around to see where they were coming from. 4). It seemed like they were coming from inside the wall. 5). He walked over and put his ear to the wall. 5). A loud BANG sent him flying backwards onto the floor. and on and on The Missing Journal One Hot Day The Clown's Revenge The Orphans Slow Train to Vermont The Glass Eye

They are great thanks. I learnt a game with dice where you roll a die and the participants have to guess higher / lower / same number as you roll. If they get the same number they get 2 points and smile with thumbs up. If they chose a higher number they 'broke the mould' and get zero points and show a grumpy face and stamp their foot. If they chose a lower number they get one point and clap 3 times. This is for primary school conferencing.

all three will be good for teaching on Zoom, early on to learn names and form a community; good especially for language teaching: Would you rather + verb and pass the word (it could be a category that you are reviewing or about to teach)

I have a senior theatre group and we made up what we call "improv " word games to play on zoom. -- We warm up with pass the ball- w or w/o saying the first world that pops into your head- but just very quickly passing the ball. -then "where in the world is..." since we are all configured differently on the screen we might say" where in the world is Steve?" Everyone points with their index finger to the 'box' that contains Steve's head..what happens is that we are all pointing in different directions- up, down, diagonally or to the left or right. and this continues until it stops being fun. (four or five turns) -Then we play "WHAT IS THE QUESTION" I will prepare a number of "answers" and the team has to use their heads to come up with the questions the 'fit' that answer. for example: Answers. "Go down two blocks and turn left". The question has to be answered a certain way. ie: 'which way to the icecream shop?' 'How do I get home?' 'which way is......anything?' submarine, watermelon.Chistmas tree? have fun with it. more answers: Since 8 o'clock this morning No, but it sure looks like him. It's not or sale, sorry I fell and sprained it on the ice. It's called crocheting, with needle and yarn. Put it in the garbage. Have fun with it and make up your own. we work with 7 people, and do not mute anyone. Everyone just calls out their question. Then we play "The Question Conversation" Two people have a conversation, on topic- with a 'through line' but the conversation is furthered by just asking questions. Before hand I prepare locations that will narrow down the topic of 'discussion" CAT CAUGHT IN A TREE ....is that a cat up there in the tree? ....You mean the Oak tree? ....Don't you see that orange ball of fur? ....Are you talking about that second branch down? ....How did the poor thing get up there? ....Do you think she was scared by something? AT A WEDDING RECEPTION ....Do you want to give a speech? ....For whom, the bride or groom? ....Which one do you know better? ....How about the one in the long white dress? ....Are you talking about the bride? ....Who else would wear a long white dress at a wedding? STUDYING AT THE LIBRARY IN A DRAWING CLASS THE BOYS FOOTBALL LOCKER ROOM ROWING DOWN A CROCODILE INFESTED WATERS IN A CANOE IN THE JUNGLE There is a lot of preparation for all these games, but they are real brain teasers. "Maintain Your Brain" Fun!!

(Please see below) I just shared 2 games with you. The last game we play that I will share is so much fun. It requires four players. The game is called: "GIBBERISH - TRANSLATOR" 'Gibberish' is a series of utterances, sounds or made up words that take the place, substitute for real words. One can even go "doo dah dada da, da da doo doo" any kind of fake words, oral sounds. When we communicate, we cannot just rely on the words to convey our meaning. We use emphasis, pitch, inflection. For instance it might sound like nonsense "Mishkaka vitz luna dedendish sayner" Just try any made up words. Practice using Gibberish to say these sentences: "I'm warning you" "How dare you spit on me!" "I love it when you massage my feet that way" "Hush, now! I heard a noise!" "That is hilarious". Each statement is said with different expression that conveys the meaning. When we use Gibberish we 'say' something, we communicate with our tone of voice, our expression, not the real words. Then the teammates are given two characters: 'A' is a movie star 'B' wants his/her autograph. "'A' is the boss 'B' is the employee who is late for work 'A' is the host" 'B' is the jokester telling offensive dirty jokes 'A' is the renter 'B' is the landlord who wants a payment and so on. Now, the first 'gibberish' person says something as if they were the character in a dialogue. For example: lets use 'A' is the model posing who is getting tired, 'B' is the painter. The Gibberish 'model' person says something as the model that means she is tired and wants to stop. But, the made up sounds have specific inflection. The translator says "oh, I'm done for, I'm going home" Next, the Gibberish Painter responds with nonsense sounds that communicates impatience and his translator changes the words into English. ""Don't move now, I'm almost done" Then the Model answers in Gibberish: resignation or reluctance and her translator makes up out of her imagination what she thinks the Model's gibberish meant: "I'm falling asleep" Then the Gibberish Painter begs, and the painter's teammate translates the his Gibberish into English. "no, no..please wake up, I need you!" The model gets angry, the painter throws down his brush in disgust, the model leaves, and so on. The pattern is Model's Gbiberish, their translator, painter's Gibberish then their translator, model's Gibberish in response, translator, painter's Gibberish, translator taking turns until the conversation ends. The Gibberish person furthers the conversation with the a comment in Gibberish, and then their teammate translates it. Back and forth, the two pairs take turns until the "conversation" ends.

Clay Face is a great game for outgoing participants or theatre groups. Leader "molds" his/her face and then makes a crazy face. Everyone else "molds" their face at the same time and then mimics the leader's face. Leader calls out someone who "molds' their face and then makes a different goofy face which everyone mimics. Call next person and continue. Crazier face the better.
