Hey quick question for ya. so i want to make this BUT all I have is cocoa powder and sugar (and I rather use that up before I start buying MORE chocolate lol). Do you think it would still work? Ever try the truffle recipe with that?
@Thevietvegan7 жыл бұрын
Rebelwheels NYC sooo for this recipe that would definitely not work because the fat in the chocolate chips is essential for making this set. If you had coconut oil or cocoa butter (would be better texture) you could try making your own chocolate for the truffles, but honestly using chocolate chips is definitely the easiest and most foolproof way haha
@RebelwheelsNYCShow7 жыл бұрын
The Viet Vegan I do have coconut milk but hmmm perhaps it's time to just go to the market lol. thanks :)

Turtles are the best. They are a tradition at my house for the holidays. This year I will be able to bring my own !! =) P: for your chocolate dipping , add 200 g of cocoa butter to 600 g of chocolate to make it easier to dip and more fluid but it melt a 35 C so it will hold better at room temperature than coconut oil and since it'S cocoa butter, it doesnt modify that much the structure of chocolat. You can also change the ration ( 400 g cocoa butter to 600 g of chocolate) if you whant a fine outer shell or for dipping frozen stuff like popsicle ( häagen dazs style)
@Thevietvegan7 жыл бұрын
Ooh so handy! Cocoa butter is really expensive whenever I see it, so I tend to use coconut oil instead. But I will totally keep this in mind!

I like your efforts. I try to avoid coconut products because they are very high in saturated fat. I often use cacoa powder to create chocolate. That way, I have control over the sweetener (and all the ingredients in the chocolate). When cooking, I try to balance excellent taste with what is nutritionally healthy for those eating the final dish that I'm creating. I heard a doctor say, "You can eat Oreo cookies and drink Coke all day, and that would be a vegan diet. But, it's not a healthy vegan diet." Everyone should aim to eat a balanced and nutritious diet. The more processed a food, usually the less healthy it is.

@Thevietvegan7 жыл бұрын
Enjoy Life is a dairy-free brand if you want to use those, but my local grocery store chain has like a store brand bag of chocolate chips that are accidentally vegan, so be sure to check your local store/no name brands :) (The one I'm talking about is President's Choice)

I feel you! I get the Enjoy life ones when they're on sale because I find they taste really good :) But I never use them for chocolate coating like I do with the Costco and PC brand ones.

You mentioned the rice cereal didn't have malt barley, is that just because it has gluten or is it not vegan like D3? Thank you!!!
@Thevietvegan6 жыл бұрын
It's just gluten, I was making these for GF people haha. But regular rice cereal typically has animal-derived D3 yes

These ingredients aren't too common
@Thevietvegan7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you live, but these ingredients are pretty available where I live in Canada. I order a lot of stuff online too, like from iHerb or VWordMarket (discount code: VietVegan). I almost always have these ingredients on hand-sometimes I need to top off my stash, and I typically have regular vegan marshmallows instead of the peppermint one.
