Yours is the first explanation that I’ve seen where the light to dark (and reverse) is illustrated that is easy to understand. Nice and slow, (love the formula!)! I hate the speed painting shown in so many how to’s which do nothing more than show how fast a camera can be sped up. THANK YOU!

I like to use a sheet of shrink wrap over a plate to blend my markers. I do a layer of the light color and then place the dark blending color on the plastic and wipe the lighter tone marker over it and blend. I hate the tip to tip method so this works wonders

Thanks for the tutorial. I love the pastels. I watched the swatching and they look similar to the pastels in a set I bought from Amazon with 168 total colors. Brand name is Belieza though the name isn't mentioned...appears on the markers. Wishing you a joyous Christmas and New Year

Glad it was helpful! I haven't heard of that brand - I will have to look into it. Do they have brush nibs? I just love Ohuhus markers - but I will admit I'm saving for Copics hahah.

@@ColorfullyOptimistic Oops.. Started to share link...They are chisel and bullet. I bought them in September for the pastels and the cool case! Belleza Suprema is the company.

I'm not a big fan of marker paper, either, because, DAMN that stuff's flimsy. And EXPENSIVE ^^'. So if I use that at all, I usually paste it to some not so textured cardboard, just so I don't get the paper all dog - eared and scrunched up as I colour away. I usually do line works on transparent paper as I did my tech drawings when studying architecture , than I scan, retouch, print and colour my own artwork. That or stamping and colouring , if I make photo albums. Both those work well on a linen structure cardboard with a bit of a smooth coating on it that a discount store sells here in Germany. It's pretty cheap, sturdy and it even comes in different colours, so definitely a win for me :3

Very expensive. I use the Astrobright Neenah white for most of my marker and color pencil work and its great - since it works for both, saves me money and its not expensive.

Do you have a list of your 121321 and 1213243451. Like what if you want to use 7 to 9 colors or even 10. I know you suggested to keep it simple and that it can get confusing.

How do you know what colors to use to blend together? Do you pick the ones next to each other on the chart provided with the markers? Can you possibly show the chart and then pin point which ones are best to blend together to have a smooth transition?
@ColorfullyOptimistic3 жыл бұрын
I can definitely do that in a follow up video for you. Basically, it is color families. Not all reds are just reds. Some are red violet, others red orange, so you first want to make sure you have your colors organized by color family, then when you are starting out it is best to pick ones close together. Eventually, you learn how to mix color families and skip colors and still blend them smoothly, but it takes practice so the best way is to 1) pick three from the same color family, 2) pick three that are close in color. Once you nail the basics you can push outward toward new families and such.

So do you copy the Hannah Lynn onto the cardstock or do you color them on the amazon paper?
@ColorfullyOptimistic3 жыл бұрын
It depends. If it is a pretty basic one, I will color on the paper, but I just know blending will be harder and requires a little more patience. If it is something more intricate or something I want to be more elaborate with my blending, I scan and print them onto cardstock, yes. Really, just depends on my mood LOL

correct me if im wrong, but dont you use the colourless blender first and then layer your colour on top?

Yes, if you watch toward the end of the video I show you how to use it - it is after I show my three methods and then I show how you use it (along with a few other ways to use the colorless blender too). See about 11:37 into the video.

I blend dark to light too. I think on the second example if you used the medium tone before the last pass of the light color it will blend. I'm with you on the colorless blender method except when I am blending out to white.
