Your videos are SO helpful. THANK YOU. Sonically demonstrating each change as it's happening instead of just describing how it sounds like most other KZbinrs do has helped me pick up these techniques and concepts so quickly. You are also incredibly hot so this channel is just a great place to be in all regards.

Spending more and more time studying audio and practicing with it. I’m at the early stage where after every trial I end up with more questions than answers! Thank you for all your efforts to educate.

Could you take us noobs through limiters and compressors? There’s a lot of music ones but it would really help being applied to the filmmaking context. Incredible channel, actual life saver.

I'm editing/processing a training video we wrote and shot but maybe didn't do as great a job on the audio as we thought. I'm now working on how to fix. The learning curve is steep but your stuff is extremely helpful. Thanks.

Fantastic quick tips here! And I really enjoy the way that you show how the changes effect the audio in real time, using your dialogue track, rather than making a additional test recording and slowing everything down.

Alex, I just found this video and I think you should teach college courses in your field. You're so clear and to the point. Do you have any recommendations for a calibrated demo disk and instructions for setting up a 5.1 home theater system? I've been looking for over a year and cannot find one. I'm about to try "Room EQ Wizard", but I am not sure that will help me get the best out of my Polk CS10 center and TSi100 R-L speakers. Especially since hearing the differences you just have shown us. Please help and thank you.

How about making your voice sound like it is coming out of an old small TV?
@birgitfischer80314 жыл бұрын
Just a quick question. How come that a lot of the time music tracks sound better in movies than their CD release or "Hi-Fi" release? Do you guys use a different/special mix of the track for movies or is it due to compression or EQ that you add to the track to make it sound more dynamic? Just curious.
@axk4 жыл бұрын
We do a completely different mix of music for films. Often it’s in surround instead of stereo, we’ve sweetened elements of the music to make them more impactful, we’ve balanced things differently, etc. Since a film has more than just music going on, we have to mix it with sound effects and dialog in mind too. That being said, we try to retain the artist’s and original mixing engineer’s vision for the song when we do this. It can be a delicate balance!

@@axk I see, it definitely doesn't seem like an easy task. Thank you for all that you taught me about getting better dialogue.

or just shoot underwater....also there's a free plugin that merges EQ with compression with built in loudness compensation. TDR Nova. amazing!

Is that Neumann just for the video and you're using a shotgun mic off camera? or is it really pulling that dialog?
@axk4 жыл бұрын
My voice is always through the TLM103, any differences you hear are just based on what processing I’m using.
