Most offroad RC's factory setup is a small amount of toe out on the front. It makes the steering more responsive and aggressive in initial turning at the expense of straight line stability. It can add a little understeer at corner exit which can help rookie drivers.
@conandude762 жыл бұрын
But not like 15 degrees on one tire and NONE on the other, that's just lazy assembly.

This is the most impressive RC for the price I've ever seen. Metal diffs too!?
@beyondRC3 жыл бұрын
Yes metal diffs 😁😁
@liamtheurchin55694 жыл бұрын
Yes I added grease to the diffs. Took a tiny bit of oil out the front shocks, you can tell with out opening them as they won't fully compress. As for the steering the toe out enables a tighter turn. I feel the hubs bind up before the servo is at full travel, and there is no dual rate to stop this happening so it stresses the servo. May be a slightly shorter servo horn or some cutting of the hubs in the future for me to give the clearance required. Thanks for the video. And very pleased with my car its faster than anything I had in the 90's for a quarter of the price.

@RobbDizzle0373 жыл бұрын
Just found your channel, great content! Will be getting a 144001 because of your vids. FWIW, front toe out will increase steering response so the car will turn in more aggressively, and I suspect that's why it was set up that way out of the box. You're correct that increased tire wear will happen as a result, but on a car that doesn't spend a lot of time going dead straight it will be a marginal increase. Reducing front toe out will dull the steering much more than it will extend tire life.
@conandude762 жыл бұрын
but not 15 degreees on one side but none on the other, as he had here. You can clearly see by eye that only one tire is toed out.

Glad you liked the vid! Its something that should probably be done as with all brushed motors people have different methods submersion in water, low speed runs etc but in all the years I have never bothered and have been generally fine with carful maintenance I mean if you run pack after pack and the motor gets extremely hot then there will be issues as thats usually where brushed motors fail through heat generation. Brushless is more efficient, maintenance free most of the time and generally cooler but with the added expense.

@40aday4 жыл бұрын
I thought toe-out & toe-in was "built in" purposefully by the manufacturer to allow for movement of the toe angle within the steering when the car is moving forward. Toe-out for front wheel drive and 4 wheel drive and toe-in for rear wheel drive. Surely by adjusting it, by eye, when the car is stationary does nothing but bugger it all up.
@beyondRC4 жыл бұрын
correct there is a certain level of toe-in built in which does aid for cornering stability but after adjusting mine it just felt a whole lot better all round including corners not just straight line stuff. May not be for everyone which is fine its simple to adjust back to normal
@radiocontrolled91814 жыл бұрын
Yep, agreed it is not just a question of setting toe by just looking and then adjusting the front wheels to get them parallel. Toe-in and toe-out have specific effects on the car's handling and normally as you said, a 4 wheel drive buggy is purposefully set with a ocuple degrees of front toe-out to increase stability. Increased toe-out will typically result in reduced understeer, helping free up the car, especially during initial turn-in while entering a corner.
@keithkelly503 жыл бұрын
@@radiocontrolled9181 i recently purchased 4 of these for Christmas gifts. There is certainly zero adjustment or calculation done by the factory. All the tie rods are put on the car fully tightened all the way. So basically the way, the tie rods came from the factory is how they are put on the car. Its like putting new parts on your own truck without doing an alignment not going to go straight at all

I am a bit concerned about the general durability of the parts in general in the long run. You actually want a bit of toe out on the front at rest in a four-wheel drive rc.
