Good grief? Has no one ever heard of Velcro straps? You can get them from dollar shops or Daiso! I even have them on my handles, so that if I need to load stuff onto my rear rack or do some simple maintenance, I strap down the brakes so the bike won't move. Velcro is the world's greatest invention! Lol!

I feel disappointed that these minor things have not been addressed in the standard package.
@Muddy2833 жыл бұрын
Why? After more than 15 years of riding a Brompton, none of the improvements Petrelli proposes are genuine issues for me, e.g. the issue of rolling the folded Brompton is most efficiently resolved not by unfolding the seat pillar but rather the handlebars. This video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/en_ZpoClqr6sY7s, has imho far better suggestions for Brompton modifications (though I would personally question the necessity to include the EZ Clamp Springs as a recommended accessory - I find Brompton folding & unfolding is all a question of good, sound technique).
@LaughingStock_ Жыл бұрын
@@Muddy283 Well after 1 day of my new Brompton I am cursing the poorly designed hinge-clamps and the fact easy-wheels are not fitted as standard. You simply got used to these design short-comings which should have been sorted by now on a bike in this price bracket.
@Muddy283 Жыл бұрын
@@LaughingStock_ Easy wheels, true, but for the frame hinge clamp try tilting the frame slightly away from you (in the sense of leaning to the ground) as you are unfolding and the clamp will snap into place naturally. Also 4½ revolutions I find to be the correct amount to unscrew each hinge clamp when folding.

I added to my Brommie a telescopic expander for wheels near the seatpost. When Brommie is folded it is somewhat unstable. The folding system is build in a way that when folding it takes weight to the right side of the bike. So I extend the pair of wheels when Brommie is folded. I think this expander should come with Brompton factory delivery.
@Petrellionwheels4 жыл бұрын
The extender is one of the great example of after market parts. Too bad they will never work on my Brompton. The extender added an extra bit of width to the eazy wheel's base, which causes me having a heel strike onto the eazy wheels all the time. I guess I will never get the benefits of that. Anyway, thanks for spending time with my video.

Sorry about the late reply. I am assuming you are either running on a e type Brompton with no fenders. If it is the case, you will need to "tilt up" the Brompton and push it from there. Larger wheels will help, but too large your Brompton will fall to the right hand side when it is folded, Try to look for some wheels which are 66mm or less in diameter.

Hi. Thanks for your good video. I would say two of your "essential" upgrades are not essential. You even say at the very beginning of your video that the "hinge clamp works fine." I would say that "essential" add-ons would be: 1. the front block, which is truly essential for any bag accessories you want to add, 2. a good lighting system, which is essential for safety, and 3. a carrying handle that attaches to your main frame bar called Off Yer Bike, which is essential for lifting and carrying your bike any distance. These 3, in my opinion, are truly "essential."

Hi Peter, great to see you putting out videos from down under. Frank "help-my-lockring-is-stuck" here. Bromptons are generally well made and thus upgrades aren't necessary "essential"; so says the bloke that spent more on upgrades than on my Bromptons themselves. Anyway, here are 3 items (in no particular order), I would advise a new Brompton owner to look into for upgrades: 1. Hinge Clamps - agree that after-market ones work better 2. Easy Wheels (especially for non-rack models) - the stock wheels are just awful for rolling, and larger wheels also provide better clearance when wheeled around 3. Toss up between Handle-grips, Saddle or Tires - each can significantly change the comfort/feel of the ride

I currently have one that works very well for me and has control of the bicycle on the handlebars and allows me to raise and lower the assist modes without any problem at any time, it is foldable the only thing that the bicycle is a bit heavy I would like to buy the Brompton but I have these doubts, I hope you can help me if it is possible to find out if I can use the prompt in the same way that I use mine, greetings and thank you very much 😊

Bryan, those paint that are coming off from the hinge clamp area it’s something that we can’t change. There is nothing to worry about here. The Brompton is a steel bike afterall, rust is part of the deal. Those rust that you see at the hinge area and along the inner tubing inside the frame are called surface rust. As Long as it is steel and exposed to air, you will get abit of it. So nothing to worry about. As long as they stay at surface rust kind of level anyway.

The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

Like the hinge clamps I may get some for my SL3. I have fitted Shimano M324 pedals, Joseph Kuosac 600mm flat bars

To me handlebar is awful in the Brompton. Doesn’t match with the rest of the qualities. I used ErgonGP3 even though the looking of it is not beauty

The newer version is abit better than the older spongy foam version. I just feel the foam version abit dirty after some rides. I had been using the Ergons for a while then I am all in on the ODI now.
