Wow. Just wow. After 5 winters living in Finland, the snow has often made me despair... but this is next level insane. How you can even face it is beyond me. I have to agree with James. This is a state of emergency at the state and federal level, way beyond the capabilities of a single township government to address. And while I fully understand the frustration, the fact remains that small local governments can only do so much. They don't have the tax base or tax income to stand prepared for a series of storms of this magnitude. And yeah, I'd be hot over the fact that the roads to the resorts were kept much better maintained than local residential roads, but let's face it: the local government gains a LOT more income from the resorts than they do from residents. Those resorts power the entire local economy, drive the entire local community. If you had limited resources and a huge base to service, tell me true, which would you service first and foremost? Local government must consider the needs of ALL, not just residents, which means devoting resources to keeping main arterial routes passable so that supplies (food, gas, etc) can be available to those that can make it to a place to resupply. Residents choose to live in a place they know may not be well resourced to service their needs in an emergency situation, keep that in mind. In short, your local government is doing the best that they can, even if you believe it is failing you. It's a totally unprecedented emergency situation, a little patience and understanding of the limits of small local governmental powers is called for, IMO.

Out of all the good news and bad news I thought I would look back at winter and the terrible drought that CA is suffering from.🤔🤔🤔 Now mind you that this drought, forecasted by experts will last to at least 2030. There will be millions of climate refugees due to this drought. The southwest is DOOMED!!!!!!!!!! I predict that in the next few weeks that Commiefornia will have massive forest fires. This is just terrible, the humanity of it all. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWO3iJWdr5pjaLc 😂😂😂 Please understand that this was not aimed at you. It is aimed at all the "experts" that the believe they know everything about "climate". This was to be another dry year. I will not predict what lake Powell or Mead will do. The "experts" believe the lakes will drop another 30' this year. I find this hard to believe with the snow pack in the west and the decreased demand due to flooding. Then again, what do I know, I have no PHD behind my name. I also did not know squat about Covid either. Nor did I know anything about the JAB.

I've been researching this more and I read that the years with the heaviest amount of snow in the Sierras had very snowy Aprils too. Sorry to say that. It should also be noted that the volcano that went off last year in the S. I’m sure you have heard that the plow brothers were called out for an emergency call to a major building that was having structural damage. They had to pull everyone to the site.

Now that you lost the garage parking spot...that has to really suck. Shoveling two cars (and having to clean them off) to get them out of the driveway so that you (or the skid guy) can clear it is a daunting task with that much snow. Hopefully, if you are going to fix or re-do the garage, there is room to perhaps extend it back to make space for two cars in a row? And say hi to RIN for us. She is probably so disorientated when she can see where she is without reference points.

dont know if you have tried airing down your tires but it works good for me.

Yes, and take the hitch off.

In regards to plowing, I also thought the state of CA had more people on emergency status to help prevent the situation you just showed.

I used to live in Mammoth Lakes back in the day.I lived at Krystal Villa East, Crowley and Old Mammoth.Never saw anything quite like this tho.. sounds like you've got "The Mammoth Crud":( hope you feel better soon!💜 Hopefully you have a humidifier at home.Helps a lot with the dry air and all.

Are you slaloming with the truck to lower the middle berm to allow wider tire tracks?

When do you give up moving the snow and just drive/walk on it.

bro, I live in Running Springs and I was driving through 3' of snow with my transmission light going on... I still kept keeping tabs because my cousin lives out in Mammoth. Although you guys are way better prepared, we have nothing to complain about! We got 150" but that doesn't compare to 695 "... holy shit... those walls though! I said the same thing you said earlier in your video, " where's our tax money going to?" No one was plowing the roads! Dope video! Arm felt like a noodle the 2nd day!

I skied a lot in New Hampshire and Vermont while attending college in Bean Town in 1970s. As much fun as I had, living in the snowy north east, hell no. I bought one of those Honda track snow blowers and I live in the DC burbs, but thankfully haven’t used it more that a few dozen times in 15 years and that is still to much snow for me. Since retirement, gave my snow blower to son and spend 6 months in the Philippines to escape the snow, BUT Will show your video to all of my Pinoy friends as they are curious about the snow. Good luck and thanks for the reminder.

The town of Mammoth lakes is paid by YOUR taxes, buddy. They are not only responsible to the "skilites" they are also responsible to everyone that lives there!! Jackson WY has the same problem.. the skilites and billionaires have priority for services over the working folks . That's why the working folks can't afford to live in Jackson..

Unreal. As I was watching, I was wondering to myself, "when is this guy going to get mad? Jesus, I'm assuming people pay taxes up there, what the holy f*%k? Totally unacceptable!" Then you finally said what I was thinking. I'm exhausted for you!!

In the month of April, Mammoth Lakes has an average daily high of 51F and a daily low of 26F. But next Tuesday and Wednesday's daily high is forecast to be in the low 20's and daily low to be in the single digits. Will Spring ever arrive?

Nice work. Nice neighboring. Almost seems like parking a rig closer to the epicenter of town with a snow shovel in it would be convenient and then use skins and skis and a sled to transport self and supplies back to your snowbound neighborhood.

Brings back memories of growing up in northeast wisconsin. We had few very heavy snow storms. Worse was: when the city plows pushed up huge berms on the sides of the streets. Even 4 wheel drive did not help once your car or truck was buried to the frame. Once it is hung up on the frame 4 wheel drive does not good. I / we always carried a coal shovel in our cars to dig our selves out. It took time but that shovel can get you out. Our wisconsin snows were nothing like even a normal winter in Mammoth lakes or sierra areas. This winter for the sierras is off the charts for heavy snow falls and accumulations. Warmer days and nights are coming very soon to the sierras and Mammoth Lakes area. Soon water pools, lakes, creeks and streams will be everywhere. Despite all this heavy snow and piles everywhere. Mammoth Lakes is a spectacular place to visit. Many vacationers just drive by on their way to or from Yosemite NP.

You seem to have a snow allergy!! Poor Tahoe needs to disable traction control. Glad that the west coast is finally getting some snowpack to help recharge those aquifers! Still so far behind though. Pickup needs a 4BTA in the back running a 7' snowblower up front. Maybe some tire chains just in case.. As you said its the worst in your area in 14 years, maybe they can't maintain that level of staffing or they've run out of budget?

Mammoth has had 58 feet of snow this season. A historical record. The blame game is hard to reconcile considering the onslaught of weather faced by the community.
