A lot of people in the same boat Bro. And even worse off. I live in Lake Arrowhead in Southern California and I just spent 14 days snowed in before a plow came down my road. I have lived in Mammoth, and Lake Tahoe. This is CRAZY for this place. Good luck and God bless. 👍

That dent is a memory in the story of your truck. It will be the epic snowstorm dent. Pop it out enough to get the light to seal and call it good. I have a crease in my tailgate from backing into a gate at my daughter's farm. It buffed good enough and it always reminds me of that week at her place.

The Roof: The idea is to lighten the load; not clear it completely. Get rid of the snow shovel you now have. Its much to big and the weight of shoveled snow will wear you down quickly or give you a heart attack! . Find a shovel half the size and depth of the beast you are currently using. Clear the roof in columns as wide as your shovel. Clear a column of snow , move a couple shovel widths to the right and clear another column , skip a couple of shovel widths to the right, clean another and on and on. If your roof is 18 shovel widths wide and you clear 9 columns of snow, you reduce the load on that side of your roof by 50%. That will make a HUGE difference. Work 15, take 5, work 15, take 15. Keep yourself hydrated. See if you can find a friend. If you help me with my roof, I'll hep you with yours. The more friends the better. Good luck. Advice: Move!
@selfemployed1338
@selfemployed1338 Жыл бұрын
Shoveling dosen't give heart attacks, not being healthy enough to shovel gives you a heart attack, most everyone who lives in places with this much snow are healthy just from the fact they shovel every day. Eat real food, if you can't kill it, grow it or pick it don't eat it, move your body most of the day, don't drink alcohol or smoke and you will be safe from fearing a heart attack.

I hear fatigue in your voice. You've got to be exhausted. I did the snow game in Mammoth for 9 years long ago. Last was 82-83. 553 inches that year total. Brings back bad memories. Blew my back up shoveling all that snow. Never been right since.Go as easy as you can. Glad you have good equipment. Makes a big difference. Stay safe. Summer has to come at some point. Thanks for the videos. Now people believe my snow stories.

I skied MN hills when I was younger but not really my thing. I did buy a lift ticket and took a joy ride to top of the mountain and had a good look around. I’m flabbergasted to see all this snow!

I do enjoy your homegrown videos of life in Mammoth and the Eastern Sierra. I've seen others. I've only subscribe to yours. You do a very good down-to-earth job. I've been skiing for about 53 years. Back when I started, it used to snow like this up in Mammoth all the time. Driving up from Bishop was like going up a toboggan run. When a big snow dumped, very common for people not to see their cars till spring and they were pancaked when the snow thawed. Been sending this video out to other friends of mine who used to do ski patrol at Snow Summit. Nice visuals on your video & perspective of height and depth.

@@sherylturnerturner1352 the climate goes in its own Cycles regardless of man. Interesting if you ever looked at the high pitched roofs up there in Ventura and Oxnard at the old farmhouses the question is why? From Santa Barbara to Oxnard it was a wet area. They would normally get 20-plus inches of rain up there year maybe 30. Had to have the high pitched roof to sheet off the rains Where they moved a few those old farm houses at Heritage Square in Oxnard you can check out that architecture. Usually storm line would usually go toward mammoth. Dave McCoy who founded Mammoth ski in 1942 work for the Department of Water and Power and had to ski and check snow levels in the area. He was no dummy. Mammoth Mountain area was literally in a funnel from the Central Valley in Fresno and had the highest snow levels.

This storm is like nothing we've ever seen in decades in our local mountains. Someone once told me, as I was moving to Upstate NY (or Northern NY, depending on who ya ask) - 'Never FILL your snow shovel. That's heavy. Cut in an inch or two at a time, shovel light. It takes longer but your back will thank you from the weight.' Paraphrased, of course. I don't follow those words too often but my back is screaming something fierce after a foot or so of the stuff. Or a two-foot berm at the driveway cause I'm not rich enough for a motor to help me move snow when my arms and legs are still good. But I figured I'd stick it here just in case you find it helpful for what y'all got going on over there. Good luck with it.
