Speaking of lubing the shaft, I had an $1100 repair on my v-star 650 when the lube on the other end of the shaft dried out, at the coupling to the differential. Not a bad idea to lube that as well when changing the back tire. Love your videos!

Thanks for the tip Johnny & thanks for watching. Cheers!

Have to say your vids are really interesting to follow. Bought my first bike last spring, new from dealer 2014 650 Classic. Love the laid back style of your vids, yet full of info. Keep up the great work. It's much appreciated!

Thanks BONES, all good now, I am getting good at removing and putting back the rear tire now lol.

@@bernbo yeah it's not easy to do without using toe straps to keep the bike from shifting. Going to lube the bike shaft soon. Read that not lubing these driveshafts can be expensive mistake. Loosening the rear fender and strapping up the fender makes it easier too. Thanks for the vids. 👍

Sorry to hear about the dark cloud following you, sooner or later it will blow over. Just a couple of suggestions, you should try "Ride On" tire sealant, I know from experience it works, even on the 650 with tubes. It's water soluble a easy to clean up, not like "Slime". Maybe it'll keep you from being stranded. Also the molly grease needs to be put on the splines of the diff and wheel hub (a lot). Always greatly enjoy your vids, thanks.

Right on Terence, thanks for the tips man. Cheers!

Rough break on all the flats. At least you weren't cruising along with blowouts. I'm really itching to get a new ride. I want the same balance as the 650 with more power.
@bernbo7 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more man, I thought the same thing, it could always be worse. The 1100 sounds like the bike for you.
@Backyardsniper737 жыл бұрын
I need to score a deal like yours with the relocator already done. $300 or pay the dealer $150 for every change. Definitely not the $150. lol I looked at some reviews on the 1300. Yamaha did a bad job with that filter placement too.
@bernbo7 жыл бұрын
It is really in your best interest to install an oil filter relocation kit in the long run, the amount of time and money it can save you is huge. I love the 1100 but not sure what Yamaha was thinking when they did this with the oil filter.
@Backyardsniper737 жыл бұрын
They were thinking they don't want guys like us fixing them. lol Same reason why I have to go through my wheel well to change a headlight bulb and that's the easy way.

Tradesman's trucks & skip bins are notorious for dropping screws & nails around construction sites. If someone on your route to work is having, or has had work done recently it might pay to go a different way for a few weeks and let other clean the road up with their tires, I think you've done your bit for the cleanup already :-0 I also hope you appreciate that I spelt tires incorrectly in my country to suit your geographical location :-0
@bernbo7 жыл бұрын
I think you hit the nail on the head bro, pun intended. There is a lot of construction around the city right now, good advice bro. lol appreciate the spelling :) Cheers!

Might not be worth doing the lottery for a few weeks, mate. Joking aside, its shitty news about the spike in the tyre. Same thing happened just outside Birmingham on the way to the National Motorcycle Museum a couple of months back. Blowout at 70mph(ish) on my XVS650 had me praying to several Gods on my way across 3 lanes to the hard shoulder lol
@bernbo7 жыл бұрын
That is some scary stuff bro, happy to hear you got to the shoulder. I consider myself lucky that both of my flats were found at 0 mph. Takeiteass!
@EliteMuppet6 жыл бұрын
You can get moly grease cheap from a hardware store. I don't know what the popular chain is there, but here its Canadian Tire. 14oz for 5 bucks. You paid way too much at the dealer/repair shop. Also You could get a cheap pair of tire spoons and change the tube yourself. A tube is 20 bucks. Takes you an extra 20 min, maybe, to do that yourself. Just food for thought :P I've been teaching myself to do everything on my own. So much cheaper to do it yourself and you learn some valuable skills. I changed my own tires and balanced them too. No special tools required. A jack and tire spoons. Balancing just needs a couple level jack stands and a few wheel weights.

Wow! So sorry for all of that horrid bad luck Bern. Well, may I share mine...1) Major fire had to evacuate, fortunately house still in tact and no deaths, just the slurry covering it now.. 2) Got a traffic citation for pulling into far turn lane instead of immediate right lane while evacuating premises riding the MC to friends house.. 3) Skin Cancer removal, oh my gosh 4 inch incision hurts like being branded from a HOT POKER! Yep, that's been my last 2 1/2 weeks of "living life large!" Heh, heh....Sarafina
