Dude!! Hell yeah!!! This is exactly what I've been doing with the horse stance lately - which was a small piece of advice given to me by you about 8 months ago. I don't know this guy but now I want to look him up. I should have some pretty cool new progress for you soon!!

That moment whe you go look up pavel’s stretching methods an go to your max splits position in 2-3 min instead of 10 I’m impressed

Teehee. :-) If you build it (the right way) it will be readily available. :-)

Awesome video. Dealing with a pulled hamstring muscle I pulled months ago trying to do a split while dancing. Never even heard of that before. It's 90% gone now but theres still some pain near the knee 😟. Now I'm terrified of splits. But now I know I need to keep going & put my mind into it. I feel like you did like my hamstrings is going to rip off.

marie2214 Ouch! I feel ya! There are some good exercises for cleaning up that scar tissue in my "Hamstring Flexibility" and "Front Splits" 30/45-day programs. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

New subscriber here. I'm looking forward to adding mobility training to the strength/metabolic training I'm already doing. I've been using kettlebells since '08 so I'm very familiar with Pavel. BTW I can't even sit on the floor in that relaxed way you're doing at the end of the vid. Need a lot of work on this! :p

Pavel also says to wait out the tension, ie static stretching but for longer, much longer than the arbitrary 30 second stretch often recommended, just waiting for the muscle to relax which could take a while
@GotROM6 жыл бұрын
Are you working on your splits? Pavel teaches a wide variety of techniques, one of which is "wait out the tension." I think the LARGER lesson to to develop the "inner IQ" (body awareness) to know WHICH technique you need at WHICH time. That's like being a master chef vs just following a generic recipe. :-)

I’m concentrating on pike atm but I do pancake as well, I am not naturally flexible lol. I was recentley listening to an interview with pavel on the tim ferris show and he was talking about a guy that reads a book while doing the pancake stretch and just waits out the tension, presumably he reads because he is there for a while lol. Good point though, finding out what works for you is the most important

Great vid - A good yoga teacher will encourage you to get deeper and use your strength to stretch - like you said , ive never really seen the point in just hanging out passively stretching , I understand the reasons it’s done in yoga but even when we’re supposed to I still like to add some pnf in there - we can rest when the practice is finished right !
@GotROM6 жыл бұрын
Movement is active...stretching should be same! Of course there is a time for purely passive / relax stuff too. I like that for deep down-regulation / sleepy time stretching. :-)
