Sir, can you please explain again, how mucopolysaccharide act as shock absorber ?
@sayanmisra58423 жыл бұрын
Mucopolysaccharides contain negatively charged groups like COO-, sulphate, acetyl, etc. So they can absorb water and thus get swollen up & repel each other. Thus they regain back their original volume. But when they get dehydrated, then they will get shrunken. Thus, their volume will also be reduced. In this way they will act as shock absorber. (Mechanism is almost similar to that of a spring) This is done mainly by Hyaluronic acid.(present in synovial fluids)
