Most beneficial tips I have seen. I laid off golf for 4-5 years and started back playing regularly after retirement. These tips dramatically changed my ball contact and once again have the distance I had earlier.

I pointed my toes out about 2-3 weeks ago. What a difference!!! Hitting the ball 10-15yrds further and keeping it in the fairway. Score line has decreased 3-4 strokes, single digit handicapper again and going down. 62 years old and getting better.

Thank you very much for this set of instructions. I LIve in the UK and started learning to hit the golf ball in my seventies and during the COVID lockdown after purchasing a golf club and some balls from a charity shop and using a field close by. I haven't actually played on a course yet but hope to shortly. Senior golfers probably play more than anybody else. They have retired, in a lot of cases, and want to keep fit. There is definitely a big change in your flexibility as you get older and tips like your are a godsend to more senior golfers.

Great question, the clubface should be aimed at the target not the feet line. Make sense?
@alangoudie22993 жыл бұрын
@@USGOLFTVshow Thank you for making sure I aim the club face towards the target. This should encourage a draw. I thought it was the feet line. It is vital to aim correctly as there is NO margin for error with golf. In tennis you get the ball over the net if you miss the centre of the racket by several inches. Renewed thanks for answering my question. It could help other golfers.

Breaking out the clubs again after 3 major surgeries and 16 years of them setting in the garage. At age 63, it’s like starting all over again. I watched a few of your videos and was encouraged that I can work at developing the basic’s of the game again. And with some work, I can get back on the course again. Thanks for focusing on the “Experienced Golfer’s.”

Before I forget, one quick question for clarity. When we set up slightly aiming right, do you aim square initially and then take the right foot back then flare! Or do you aim slightly right, feet, hips, shoulders etc but keep clubface square to target. Move back on body/feet line to promote baby draw? Thanks Simon 53, southampton, England

Good advice. As a senior (73), I only take a 3/4 swing on all irons (6-SW). I find you can hit the ball in the center of the club much more often. With a decent follow through, you lose no distance vs an aggressive full swing. I do make a full swing on driver and 7/8 swing on fairways and hybrids. Still an 11 handicap today, was as low as scratch, mostly 4to 6 when I was young.

@@tushardutt967 yes. Face at the target with a slight closed stance will promote a draw. This is a cornerstone of the Vertical Line Swing System. You can learn the entire system in our book The Bad Lie which you can find on Amazon here www.badliegolfbook.com

Hi Todd, first I want to say that I really enjoy your videos and they have helped me a lot. I am 60 and started golfing at 58. I struggle with distance and the usual fat and thin shots. My question is, wouldn't swaying from front to back and to front again cause some problems with clean ball contact? Keep up the great videos. Rick

Hi Todd, Thank you for all of the great video lessons. I have watched many of your video lessons and have found most of your content to be helpful. But, in this video one of your Setup Tips for Senior Golfers directly contradicts the tip you give in the lesson "CLEAR YOUR HIPS TO CREATE A MORE POWERFUL GOLF SWING." In the "Clear Your Hips" lesson you suggest opening the stance (moving the front foot back) to enable easier rotation and clearing of the hips through the swing. In this video you take the exact opposite approach and suggest closing the stance (moving the front foot forward) to allow for more rotation in the backswing. In each video you say that these tips are for the senior or less flexible golfer. Clearly, both tips can't be incorporated in the same swing, so could you provide further clarity on the who, when and why of each tip? Thank you.

Enjoying the channel. Question is in tip 3, moving left to right. Is this not swayingboff of the ball. I lack weight shift but feel this is introducing a sway? R Jim
@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
Good question. The key is to keep the weight on the inside of the trail foot vs the outside. If you do that it is not a sway. Make sense?

Todd, when you turn your feet to the right do you also align your shoulders and club face to the right or are they pointed down the line?
@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
Great question, we like to point/flare the toes as it provides more range of motion to rotate. Also like the stance slightly closed to the target line with the clubface square to the target line. This position is best to help promote an inside to out swing path and a nice high draw. Hope that helps. 👊
@inusprinsloo12573 жыл бұрын
Hi, is aiming to the right not in essence NOT aiming to the target anymore? Won't a straight shot then just land off to the right.?
@USGOLFTVshow3 жыл бұрын
Good question, a slight rightward aim promotes an inside to out swing path which makes hitting a high draw much easier. 👍

Hi Todd, my name is Rick. I'm 66 and in the last 6 years I've had both hips and knees replaced. I've lost at least 30 yards off my tee shots and I find that I have to use hybrid clubs more often. I chip really well and can save par as a result. My scoring range is 75 to 83. My biggest problem is getting out of sand traps, it's really frustrating. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Thank you.

Morning Todd, I know you mentioned about having the left arm higher than the trail arm in the set up. This tip from Chris Ryan kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHSri2qPmcutmbs seems to be what you are talking about. Is this what you are recommending within the VLS?
@paj95683 жыл бұрын
Hi Todd. Really love your teaching & tips. I am a bit confused however. In many of your videos you suggest to aim right or close the stance (right handed golfer). I have had some success with that but always felt blocked or that I couldn't rotate. You did a great video that I recently discovered (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnLIeqOjacSCb5Y&ab_channel=USGOLFTV). This video suggests to open your stance (left foot back a bit) to help with clearing the hips. I tried it the other day and I was really happy with the results. I do however struggle with the conflicting tips or am I confusing apples with oranges?
@ehbenson29483 жыл бұрын
I noticed he is not addressing any of the questions about the setup he proposes sending the ball off to the right, which it will. Also, he wants you to move backwards on the swing instead of rotating the hips ( watch the video again, his head moves to the right, that is a big no-no

Really a lot of sway with tip 3

Good pick up...the key is to keep the weight/pressure on the inside of the trail foot...if it stays there...all good...if it goes to the outside of the foot, then it is a sway
