I prefer thrift videos, because the items seem like things I am likely to encounter myself. Antique stores feel very specific and like I would only find those things if I went to that specific store

I much prefer the GW videos - the Antique Mall stuff has already been curated and there is little chance of something really exciting appearing out of nowhere.

I’d have to disagree I find fantastic buys all the time at antique malls! Some booths are more into moving merchandise quickly than spending time looking things up. I have found a antique baccarat perfume at a mall for $8 that sold for $150, a cute little bird wall pocket for $5 that sold for $75, I found royal Doulton figurines for $5 each that have sold anywhere from $30 to $90 each. We picked up about 10 of them. I found 5 old Polly Bellows figures for $55 total that sold for $350. Found a Victor Steendahl compote for $15 and it sold for $110. Not too long ago my son walked into an antique mall and found a Florence Ceramics lady for $20 that he sold within a day for over $800..honestly I could go on and on with wonderful buys we’ve found at antique malls understand the thrill of finding something of value that someone discarded at a thrift store but Antique Malls are full of hidden gems. In some ways it’s a BIGGER thrill to find those hidden gems, like a true treasure hunt😉 It’s rare I walk out of an antique mall with nothing but I’ll walk out of a thrift store often with nothing. Heck our thrift stores are more expensive than most of our antique malls! It’s truly becoming a pet peeve of mine😂 I don’t mind paying up for something good but it’s like they are so afraid of missing something good they just price everything high. It used to be the Best Buy’s were at thrift stores, at least for me those stores are further down on the list of my preferred places to go.

I hit my local GW (Augusta, ME) yesterday. Found a bunch of small treasures for resale and myself, BUT the best part was finding 90% off winterwear. I got new mittens, hats, gloves, socks , tights, even boots for a local homeless shelter, our local grade school, and a school for handicapped (mostly autistic) kids that my daughter runs. My heart is warm caz these disadvantaged people will be warmer this winter!

Goodwill vs Antique mall? Both have their merits. I liked Goodwill better when it was by color because the stuff that showed up together was wild sometimes. I lean a little towards malls I think because one does still get unexpected finds like Goodwill but can also see some really great pieces.
Just stopping in briefly to say: Oh, my word!! That's the lion bank I had when I was 14!! So: circa 1970. Which makes it 54 years old. Scary.
