Stevia or monkfruit, it's a no calorie sweeter :) their is powder and liquid form , I think liquid would work best for these recipes. But be careful they are stronger than regular sugar, a little goes a long way.

You can also try an almond flour and cocoa powder mix for the chocolate ones and then just plain almond flour for the vanilla with a lil bit of vanilla extract. Or you can try any other flour. You just need the same texture and consistency as the protein powder. The protein powder is a good way to sneak in protein if you don't eat a lot of protein-packed foods, but I understand the struggle. I have to find a vegan and gluten free protein powder, because I'm lactose and gluten intolerance. Happy no-baking!!!

I find it funny that some people here who know nothing of basic scientific based nutrition like to comment about how much sugar and fat are in these bars. So here is a little info. There isn't much sugar in these bars. Lets compare 1 serve of this bar with what some would consider the healthier option for a snack, an Apple. In 1 medium sized Granny Smith Apple with the skin on approximately 6oz in weight you get 0.3g Fat, 24.1g Carb, 5g Fibre 0.8g Protein and 17g of Sugar, 102 calories. In this recipe bar, for 1 serve you get 14g Fat, 15g Carb, 4g Fibre, 11g Protein, 7g Sugar and 221 calories. An apple has more sugar in it than these bars. To be honest, I would take this bar over an apple any day, because at leas this bar would satiate me, unlike an apple where I would maybe reach for another, and then handful of nut thereby increase the calories I have consumed, the fat and sugar I have consumed anyway. SMH. The average American adult consumes more than 77g of Sugar a day, for children more than 85g a day. For Men it is recommended to not consume more than 36g of sugar a day and for women it would be 25g. The sugar found here is very much in the healthy range especially with the high Protein, Fibre and Fat which slows down your potential spikes in your blood sugar levels. The High Protein, Fibre makes this bar very satiating with the protein helping with muscle repair after a work out. Yes it is high in Fat, however fat also makes this snack satiating. Your body needs fat. Fat supplies energy for your body, just like protein and carbohydrates. Fat is part of every cell in our body, and your brain is about 60% fat. Fats provide essential fatty acids that our bodies can’t make. Fat has a role in regulating hormones, body temperature, immune function, reproduction, insulin signalling, and nutrient absorption. Vitamin A, D, E, and K rely on fat for absorption. Its a myth that a diet moderately high in fat makes you fat. People who generally purchase low fat or no fat food items such as low fat or no fat yoghurt don't realise that by reducing the fat and or removing it, you are removing the flavour and the satiating aspects of said yoghurt. Because of this, manufacturers will add in synthetic artificial sugars like aspartme or even natural sweetners like stevia into their products. So using stevia as an example, 1 teaspoon of stevia is approximately 250 to 300 times more sweet than sugar. So if you consume products like this all the time, your body will get used to consuming very sweet, though low caloric food products however if you were to eat something natural, whole and unprocessed, it won't hit that sweet spot for you so you end up consuming more or looking to consume more and more sweeter food items. If you eat these bars before or after working out/doing exercise the whole sugar/fat/caloric thing becomes irrelevant. To burn off 220 calories, this would involve doing fairly short amount of exercise, roughly on average: 18 minutes swimming 24 minutes jogging 56 minutes walking 32 minutes cycling 1 hour of lifting weights 200 to 400 calories. This also does not take into consideration the calories your burn simply breathing, talking and the calories that continue to burn AFTER doing your workout or ANY other form of physical activity.

from the look of it, it seems that those bars are energy bars rather than protein bars. So much fat and sugar and not enough protein. Get this: Want to eat 2.500 kcal a day and want to gain muscle: 1.4g of Protein per Kg bodyweight. So with a 90 Kg body you will need 126g of Protein a day. That means per 100 kcal that you take in you need to get 5g of protein. Those bars might be delicious and full of energy, but the only ingredient that balances out the high fatty and high sugary ingredients is: the protein powder. It is simply not enough protein powder to make up for the high caloric and low protein dense ingredients.
@marco.pereira
@marco.pereira 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed this seems more like a threat and not a healthy recipe at all. This is very high calorie and fats/sugar. Not sure I agree with it being considered a healthy snack just bc it does have a some healthy items. It also has non healthy items like that syrup. I guess you can sub it with a low calorie syrup, but I agree would be nice to see the macros/calories.

Tried the peanut butter one but they didn’t hold together well enough and crumbled once cut :( I used raisin (paste) instead of date paste and golden syrup instead of maple bc that’s what I had. It’s really sweet already so I don’t want to add more sweetness. And more peanut butter would also be too overpowering flavour. What could I use to make it hold better? Any ideas? Coconut oil maybe? Water? Or will that make them go bad within a week?
