Yeah. That would be Soo much easier getting just one and add another later when the first has been properly socialized and bonded and trained so there'll be a chance for the younger to copy good behavior from the older, rather than just enabling pure double-puppy chaos at xxxl size

No, no it's not! They are amazing dogs, and if trained correctly are absolutely amazing dogs! They are the most gentle dog I have ever been around! Great with kids and other animals. I absolutely love great danes and would have one in a heartbeat!

One thing I've noticed is the animals in the zoos. When they get sick, they are always "one of the favorites of the zoo"

As someone who worked in a hospital for 3 years during the height of the pandemic - when you have a favorite, it’s not a good thing. It’s because they need a lot of care and need to be at the hospital a lot. I imagine it’d be the same with a zoo, the favorites are the ones that are older, are sick a lot, or some other reason why the keepers would need to spend a lot of time with them.

Malcom is young ,he will adjust well to a captive life ,he will eat well and probably live longer than a wild one . Where I live in the Uk ,which is fairly rural there are several pairs of falcons breeding in the numerous no longer used quarry ,the craggy high walls of them are perfect breeding sites for them ,often have entire families shrieking their contact call as they circle to gain hight . Watching wild falcon go into a stoop and snatching a bird in midair then up they go and take off clutching their prey .

I’m currently studying animal care and welfare at college and one of my dreams is to work abroad with exotic animals. The people getting 2 Dane puppies the same age not only need an education in how to train dogs, but they need a very serious conversation about Littermate Syndrome and how to avoid it if they insist on getting 2 dogs the same age at the same time.

The couple that are taking on two Great Dane pups, after never even owning any dogs…is making a big mistake. Perhaps they are living off of a trust fund and can spare the time. First of all, they should consider building a large outdoor dog kennel, that includes snake screening…all along the perimeter of the fencing. I would also include using appropriate plants that repel snakes…planted outside of the fencing (don’t forget the reticulation). I would also suggest studying a reputable book on dog ownership. “No Bad Dogs” by Barbara Woodhouse…would be an excellent introduction to dog care. Elevate the drinking and feeding bowls for your Great Danes (helps diminish chances for gastric torsion). Purchase a tick extractor tool, designed to gently hold ticks…while turning them anti-clockwise (counter clockwise), to properly remove a tick. Never allow your Great Dane to jump up on to anyone, especially the elderly or young children (Shame on the breeder, for allowing her dog to do it to her).

Great danes are amazing dogs. Easily trainable and great with kids and other animals. At about 2 years of age, they really mellow and just become part of your furniture, lol. They have this lean, where when you are standing, they lean their whole body on you. If you can handle that, you're golden! The unfortunate thing is they have a really short lifespan!

I love watching Bondi Vet but it really was upsetting to see his solution for James, the pig. A nose ring is really a cruel method to try to prevent digging. This is an innate behavior that a pig feels compelled to do and the ring can be painful and become frustrating to James. Most vets in the U.S. will not do this procedure as it just irritates the nose until it can become quite painful. A lot of vets recommend exercise and mentally challenging exercise as most pigs become bored and revert back to the digging. This is why people with pigs need to realize these behaviors and needs before getting one. They require some land that they are allowed to dig and burrow. It would be difficult in a city so rural areas would be prime where James could dig to his heart's desire. I loved the sanctuary to care for animals that have been mistreated and are unreleasable.

Good for you. Sometimes you just don’t have the money to pay the vet. The vet won’t treat the dog if you can’t pay when you leave. An unfortunate fact of life. Obviously you have never come up against the problem.
