Yeah that was a tough one, almost three hours and court to play a 3 set match and that's just the first round of the UTR in Barcelona!

I have never ever seen you play with such intensity, focus and drive...and you had a serious injury during all this. I don't give a crap about the score and ratings...this was a win for you Grisha. Keep up the good work; your decisions will get better as your confidence grows with the good ones that far outweighed the questionable ones. The wins will follow. As the cliché says, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Cheers and thanks for sharing. M

Opponent was getting antsy in the start of the 3rd after that break, I think next time just play really solid and make him play and he'll miss. Just my $0.02.

Man this one was painful because this match was yours and you played so well Grish. In fact, you've been leveling up your game so much since you started this little journey with us. I can see the definite improvements with your stroke, court penetration and your movement. You also don't look uncomfortable on the court like you did in your initial videos when you first started. But I think sometimes you're still plagued by some shot decisions for example when you were up 2-0 in the 3rd set, For some odd reason you hit 2 drop shot attempts. The first attempt just brought him to the net and he killed the ball, and the 2nd one didn't even make it over the net. And while you're right that a drop shot, you should redrop sometimes, I think the 2nd attempt you could still hit a backhand angle wide. I think maybe next time try to believe in yourself and don't pull the rip cord and try to force the point to be over because you want it over faster. Because at this level, you need to really have him off on one side of the court in the far back court to make sure he doesn't get to it. But overall, you should be proud of how you are changing your game and progressing. I think in the past you wouldn't have even taken a set off of this type of player and you were frustrating him enough that in the 3rd set he screamed in anguish. Keep this up and in the near future you will conquer these players. Just play with that aggressive yet steady approach. Keep posting, they are so fun to watch. I keep rooting for your success!

Love the video. Clearly you gotta work on that big point mentality, you had so many chances man. The mistakes aren't the issue, it's how you made them by going for ridiculous decisions during those big points sometimes or rather often. Maybe simulate more pressure situations in training and try taking them seriously, you will surely improve and get those W's. I like watching your tennis a lot keep at it :)

Great match! Seems like you had real success going to his backhand in the beginning of the 2nd and middle of the 3rd set. It seems like you went away from that at other times during those sets. If you agree, why do you think that is?

You have the skill. I think some problems you have are psychological. It's that split 1 second lapse in concentration and decision making. You've to ask yourself are you trying to sabotage your ownself (unconsciously) by not concentrating fully and why are you doing that? (only you will know!). Perhaps somewhere in you, you don't believe you can go higher or are good enough. The fact is you are a skilled and talented tennis player, if only you could get out of your own way.

Maybe the reason why you didn't hold your breaks in the third set was the injury. Between the end of the second set and the beginning of the third, you looked totally in control of the match.

Your opponents backhand was clearly much weaker than his forehand. Surprised you played to his FH as often as you did throughout the match. IMO, you would’ve won in straights if you had a better plan during the match.

@shipwreck8847

@@gladiatorstribe I noticed you were trying to play to his backhand. But sometimes when players like this play a bunch of matches they are used to players trying to play to their backhands as this isn't new for them so they have developed counters measures for your strategy.
