Some crazy good tennis Grisha. You stick to it like you are doing and finally things will turn your way. I have faith in you man. Footfaults...well from my angle, there weren't any. Especially how he was telling you about the "whole foot" being in. He needs some serious prescription glasses..or maybe I do...lol. Cheers! M

Glad to see an overall positive attitude. Not easy to play when recovering from illness. Lingering effects can be subtle. Curious if you ever played a full match with that phantom 93p? Looked like you served bigger with it.

Man, he was tough. He cheated so much to the backhand side and left the court open for you but basically was betting on your mistake down the line plus he was fast. I wonder if going down the line and then to his backhand again so that he gets backhands on the run would work.
@gladiatorstribe
@gladiatorstribe Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! His bh on the run isn't bad but playing to his forehand can be risky.

What an awkward opponent to matchup against, both as a former presenter on this channel and as an opponent. He's hitting a strong forehand one time then another time hitting a squash or drop shot. If I didn't know the score or outcome I thought you would have blown him out of the water, just because your strokes are so smooth and polished. A lot of his balls are awkward for you because they have a low contact point and it doesn't allow you to hit your natural stroke. You never practice hitting balls at your ankles because nobody hits those types of balls during practice unless they're an asshole. You're also having to run forward and back than what you prefer to be side to side. Grish, his backhand is the weaker side (as you already knew) and he was guarding his backhand by hitting forehands around it. The best thing you can try is when you have him on the deuce court and you do have a chance to hit to his backhand side. Try to come in. Forcing him to hit passing shots from his one handed backhand something that would give you an advantage. If you can plan it where you're at the net as he's forced to hit a backhand is the right gameplan to be. Also for one handed backhand players. Just try to throw high arc top spin balls into the ad court, you were hitting nice and flat and that's how 1hbh players like it. They flush the ball easier. Hitting high loopy spin balls to his backhand side I think might help you a lot with this type of opponent and it is a lot harder to slice those shots for him as well. Sorry for the backseat coaching, I know you're super accomplished tennis player who knows how to play. But just some observations from another tennis player that's been playing for a long time. But the next evolution of your game I think needs to funnel to ending more points at the net. You seemed a bit uncomfortable at the net in this match. Maybe it's something you can drill and work on. I think it will boost your game a lot and give your opponents a real hard time if you become an assasin / wall up there.

Your whole foot was inside?! I definitely didn't see any foot faults. If you did, it would've been too hard for him to even tell for sure because only a small section of your foot would be crossing, if at all. Very odd that he kept calling them on you again and again. Did you think to ask him how and what part of your foot was crossing the line? That's what I would do if it kept getting called on me.
