Nice catch! This would've easily been a 4th alarm where I live haha. Nice footage of the fire!

Thanks. Ya it almost got there too. The community is pretty far from the stations, so it took a while for the companies to arrive. It was also a super windy day

Alberta uses the national building code, which has guidelines for distances between homes, however, I suspect that developers pressure the city to allow them to bend the rules a touch. Protecting exposures on the B and D sides should be a priority.

Very true, unfortunately in this event, the Bravo side was already fully involved, and the delta side was well on its way before CFD arrived

On fires that have self vented thru the roof isn't an interior attack more effective or is it too risky for personnel on scene ? The exterior attack ruins whatever the fire didn't due to water damage .
@CalgaryFireFilmer9 ай бұрын
On some fires with a self vent, it can mean getting better access for interior work, but in this case the houses were already fully involved, so the precedence was put on the adjacent structures so they didn’t go up. No structure had occupants either, so there wasn’t a great need to go interior.

That is what you get when u build houses so close together.Just a little wind and they all go up in flames. I could never live like that. Glad know one got hurt.
@CalgaryFireFilmer Жыл бұрын
Ya being that close to each other, it’s almost impossible for only one house to catch fire anymore

why do they build houses so close???? The City of Calgary should not allow this type of home building development at inches apart to happen. One house catches fires and three burn down. Dumb !!! For home builders/developers its profit over safety. The more houses they can cram together, the more they make. Just nuts and the City needs to put an end to this kind of practice by the local home builders/developers!! Greed over public safety for sure.
@CalgaryFireFilmer Жыл бұрын
For sure. Houses are built so close together and with flammable siding. Some houses are less then 4ft apart in some areas. Even highly trained firefighters don’t stand a chance
