At 2:50 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, fire crews were first alerted to a potential building fire at the corner of 19th Avenue and 37th Street in the Southeast community of Forest Lawn. As crews from 12 first started pulling out of their bays, the smoke was already visible, and it became a working fire. Crews on arrival determined the fire had spread from the garage, and the house's attic was fully involved. Utilizing handlines, deck guns and a Tower Ladder, the fire was knocked down quite quickly. A 2nd Alarm was called due the rapid expansion of fire, along with the temperature during the blaze. (36 degrees Celsius) The fire was completely out less than an hour later.
While filming, I was able to capture the initial tone out for the Prealert structure fire, and the subsequent response. On scene, I have crews from Engine 4 laying a supply line to the hydrant, Tower 25 flying their ladder, and heavy smoke and flames from the roof of the house.
