With so many Americans struggling to find jobs in the IT field, perhaps it’s time to reconsider the H1 visa program. Students who come to the U.S. for education should ideally return to their home countries after completing their studies, rather than switching to J1 visas to stay and work. Many American students, born and raised here, are finding it challenging to secure internships and jobs, leaving their families worried about how long they can continue supporting them. Prioritizing American citizens in the job market could help alleviate this issue. Furthermore, as an Indian, I sometimes feel embarrassed by the behavior of some students who come to the U.S. They often speak loudly in public spaces, like trains, without regard for local customs. It’s important to show respect for the culture here. Traditional arts and performances have a place, but they should ideally take place in designated venues where everyone can appreciate them, rather than in public places like Walmart or tourist sites. If we’re guests in this country, we should adapt to its customs and leave American culture as it is. Just as we may not welcome others making drastic changes in India, we should show the same respect when we’re here.

You are right, for people like me who work sincerely and legally improving myself every minute they should implement merit based system and give people like me greencard or citizenship. Im committed for this country and would do for the betterment of this nation if given such an opportunity

Things always don’t work one way especially in a global economy with so many laws for each country in place. America can send all illegal immigrants back and not renew the non immigrant visas, but that probably would be the reason enough to trigger a global recession.

H1-B is cheap imported labor. US can find plenty of IT tech. They just don't want to pay. Hoping Trump makes massive changes for the sake of US folks who goes to college here and graduates.

They are not cheap. The company has to pay the employee they hire and the middlemen who bring the overseas employees here. Once I was looking to hire a H1-B guy and the company wanted $90 per hour for him, and that was long time ago when salaries was not that high.

Most Indian IT companies and IT people here are or have done some kind of Visa fraud. Most companies and some individuals are always doing fraud. This is the reason Infosys paid a big amount. Though for Infosys, that was a small amount, it would have been better if the license to operate in the US for Infosys was revoked. But we all do many of these companies lobby to pay the US Congress and the trend continues.
