It's fun to see you improving, you have improved your game a lot the last year. Your footwork is generally much better, better overheads(viboras/modern bandejas) from last year by a large margin, you read the game pretty well as well. You also seem to know your strong points and play accordingly. Very well done, looking forward to following your progress some more.

Ok, had to stop video at your second game to comment: Ewan, and anyone else in a similar geographical location/padel club combination: DO. NOT. PLAY. In those conditions! One bad slip can make you forget any kind of sports for a long time. In a lot of sports falling down can be at least semi-anticipated, in padel it's completely random, thus injuries can be very serious!

For the point (replay around 2:50) - whoever is closer and is in time is allowed to claim it. But then you have to make it in time. It was more or less in Kevin's "running line" where his body was going. We always say "whoever calls first has to solve it". Again difficult to call "yes" or "mine" when it's going so fast. I would dare to say though that when you're this close to the net, it's a lot better to play slower and lower. That avoids this fast paced roulette. It's good that Ethan holds back. Rather lose a point than slap someone that hard. Would have a nasty result.

Great video. Try holding your left hand up a little bit longer before dropping it, on the Vibora, it will help you a lot with the timing. Cheers all the way from Mexico. I love your videos mate.

Really cool Kevin Chan is playing in the same club where I play. I didn't know people went to UK to play like to be honest I thought Spain was the only place people went to train padel basically. Anyway really nice matches and play. About the ball. I am no expert but high backhand volley is hard and should be avoided usually. But in this case I think it was not wrong to go for the backhand volley. If he made the ball in I think it would have been a point since he took ball quick and took away plenty time for the opponents. And the corner was open and the player, cross court, was out of place. Well idk, but in general balls like this is for the backhand player. @10:22 That situation should be shown to almost every amateur. I mean on intermediate level people still are very focused on "my side and your side". In my view your there is no sides like your position depends on where the ball and your partner is. So when I end up in situations like this my partner often stand and watch what happens.

Your footwork is very good for the 2 viboras at the first match match point. Were you conscious of that, did you work specifically on your footwork for returning lobs with vibora or did that come naturally?
@Plasmatek8711 күн бұрын
minute 2:48, the ball is definitely of the right player (red shirt) who should close the point; he is right handed so he has to go for a backhand but with left-handed player, this should be an easy forehand volee

Finally subscribed for you! On your Vibora practice you're getting your left arm up like the coach told you in your last video but you seem to drop it again just before playing the shot instead of moving it at the same time as the right arm as part of the natural shot rotation. I'm still a beginner though so I've no idea if this is detrimental to what he was trying to instil or is actually just the natural motion intended.

Or ... the ball is coming from the diagonal, when in doubt...respect the diagonal :)
@kevvec14 күн бұрын
Do not agree. If Ethan would had been one step closer to the net I would had to let him hit the forehand. But since I’m seeking the ball in front of him it’s my ball 100%. The miss is because of the miscommunication.
@laurentdvr804414 күн бұрын
Has to be Ethan though. Even if Kev’s backhand was not in the bottom of the net, that would have been an easy ball for the opponent. If Ethan is allowed to have the ball, he has many options to finish the point. I would have said for him and slow in the middle with second bounce dying on the glass. (And nothing against Kevin who seems like a great player too but maybe with the left-side mentality on that one 😄😅😁)
@RobWolfPetersen13 күн бұрын
Can see both sides of this. In an ideal world, definitely Ethan’s ball, but for Kevin to pull out of that shot he needs a super early call. In the heat of the moment, very difficult to leave it

Was Ethan's ball. It was to his forehand, he had more time to guide it with power, kevin was stretching. Let the ego take over there. Only thing Ethan should be aware of is his racket position. Should be held up in front of him so he's ready for the volley faster.
