Interesting ! Some of us prefer the coziness of individual rooms as compared to a large space needing " artificial / visual " dividers to suggest specific designated areas . Not being one who is into large group entertaining & " I only have a kitchen because it came w/ the house " 😂, I like my kitchen " walled off " ! Probably influenced by traditional homes I lived in w/ beautiful library , music , dining , family rooms , etc. . Yet , I can understand folks going the total opposite , especially w/ changing lifestyles .

I definitely like to treat my open space as one large space. Rugs vs no rugs and possibly ceiling difference ms are all my eye can stand. Great tips

Glad you like them! Yes, trust your eye and your instincts. It all depends on the space and how you want it to feel. ❤️Liz

When I tell u no one has the same open floor plan as me it’s soo HARD. When u walk in the kitchen is an L shape on the top right so it’s the whole right angel. The top left has a patio door adjacent to the kitchen, but it’s also decent space for a dinning table??? Bottom left and right is empty space. The islands facing this huge windows which isn’t bad it’s directly across the kitchen and there’s another one adjacent to it as well. I just don’t know where to add the dinning table and living room

Hi there! It's sounds like you're right on track with placing the dining table adjacent to the kitchen and the sliding door which should provide a nice view. It's sounds like the remaining area is larger so ideal for the living space.

The problem with my open space is that it's long and relatively narrow (4m x 11,5m - 6m were the kitchen is). It has of course the advantage that there are lots of walls to put cabinets etc. against, but at the same time you get the impression of a funnel. I'm working with area rugs and am now thinking of doing something with part of the ceiling (putting up slats) to create visual demarcation. Any more suggestions on what I can do?

If it's one long continuous ceiling I would use light fixtures to define the areas instead of breaking up the ceiling but it's really hard to say without seeing the space. ~Liz

@@BalanceRhythm I am already using light fixtures on 2/3s of the ceiling. It's on the last part, where also the kitchen is situated, that I thought about using slats. That way, I can create a distinct kitchen area.

I hate my open concept , it’s small and full of windows and doors, no entry way . Too large of a fire place ( with a window above !) it’s always looking awkward

Whoever came up with open concept must have fallen and hit their head. You could not even give me a house that is open concept. Who wants a Kitchen in there Livingroom, give me a wall and separate all the spaces. I do not want to be relaxing in the Livingroom watching TV and hear people in the Kitchen rattling dishes, pots and pans and talking, or a dining room in your Livingroom and all you hear is people sitting around the table talking. What a stupid design, each room needs its own space with walls and entry ways, maybe with doors, you can decorate each space with the theme of that space. I do not like sitting in the Livingroom, look to my left or right and see my Fridge and a Kitchen counter, how stupid is that.

I agree with you, however there are pros & cons to both layouts. There’s a real open floor plans sell
