Your son's little jumper - how about framing it with a photo of him wearing it and keeping it in your craft room. That way you can still enjoy it and have all the warm fuzzies of memories. After all, it probably doesn't fit him anymore so he wouldn't be wearing it now anyway x

That’s such a sweet idea. You’re right, it would’ve languished somewhere eventually anyway, so this could be a cute reminder of my knitting journey with him 🥰

Idea for the felted jumper: use the fabric created to make a stuffy/stuffed animal? And then you can knit the stuffy a sweater?

That’s a great idea! I need to learn how to sew first 😂

If you can find someone who can sew, have them line it and turn it into a jacket. It will be super cute, weather proof and warm.

Felted sweaters make great mittens! I know you mentioned you’re not a sewist but it’s a fairly simple project and a good way to keep a sentimental knit

Making mittens crossed my mind! It feels like a pretty indestructible fabric now. I’ll have to find a bare bones beginner pattern to try this 😁

Do it! I almost feel bad for my flop yarn languishing in unworn projects in the back of my closet 😂

Oh such a shame 😭 but it happens to everyone I’m sure. Will you reknit the same project or repurpose the yarn for something else?

Sometimes the amount of twist in the yarn can affect the way a hat comes out. I made two identical hats from the same pattern by Alex Tinsley for my husband about 2 years apart, both yarns were superwash merino and had the same yardage, the first one was a worsted weight yarn from an indie dyer and fitted him really well and he loved and wore it every day until he lost it, but the second one was a Madeline Tosh yarn that was equally lovely to knit with, but had a higher twist and the hat is shorter and seems to ride up a little more when he wears it! I wonder if a chainette construction yarn would work with the Petite Knits sweater? They tend to be lighter and loftier than a plied yarn of the same category. The yarns you have deserve to be used in patterns that make the most of them.

That’s so interesting, and makes total sense. I think I also read that high twist = less pilling? I have yet to put that to the test though. I was just thinking a chainette yarn might work, held with something else. It needs a lot more airiness for it to ever turn into something I could wear in this climate. I already have some ideas on how I could repurpose the yarn I used 😁✌🏻
