Man, this video is the glue that has bound together the fragmented knowledge i have about VCV and modular and made it all make sense. Following along while watching has really been an eye opener. A simple thank you isnt enough here.

Great examples! It's been a while since I've listened to Tangerine Dream. Had to play their "Thief"-album again from 1981 after watching this video. That album has 3 tracks with ratcheting on the bassline. Thanks for the trip down memory lane 😄

Very useful! I spent a significant amount of time to figure out various ways to do this but you showed me something new again! Thanks Omri!

Man, it's gonna be one of the most important videos on your channel! Just only tell how to add a mellotron melody line in the VCV Rack and it'll be epic! :)
@pavlovidankmemeovi2 жыл бұрын
There is a free mellotron sample pack by Sonic Boom (i think thats what its called?) , just find a sampler module and pluck the samples into it and there you go

The approach I figured out recently was using using an 8:1 switch with address (Count Modula's and BogAudio's both do) and then using CV from a sequencer to modulate that, so each input was a differently paced clock and the control would let me pick between them without being restricted to go in a sequential order through the switch inputs. (That approach has also been useful w/ pitch inputs to do custom arpeggio patterns!) Really nice to see some other variations to ratcheting I'd never considered!

Yeah, also switching randomly is fun :)

I think you have just persuaded me to try VCV rack. I'm having a real struggle emulating ratcheting in Ableton. Thank you very much for this 🙏

Thank you for the nods to hardware modular. I had to sell my 960 because, at 54hp, it took up too much space, but with Pam’s, the Doepfer multiplier and a Muxlicer I should be able to patch something up…

This is wonderful. I'm slowly going through you Gumroad VCV 2 tack course, it's really helping me understand things better. One thing I'd like to do one day is get my Elektron Digitakt and Digitone working with VCV somehow, is this possible and do you have a video like that?
@OmriCohen-Music Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much :) I don't have an Elektron machine so I'm not so sure how this will work but I guess that the best option will be with Midi. It will not be 100% tight but it might work.

@@OmriCohen-Music thanks. Do you think VCV can do something similar to this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIe1ZYFmZ5aBitE
@OmriCohen-Music Жыл бұрын
@@G0nz0uk Yes, totally. You will need the samples for that but there are modules you can use for processing samples in the same way. You have Supercell for granular, and Simpliciter for Morphagene-like splicing.
