You were the first femme woman who I saw come out, and you're a major reason why I was able to come out of the closet to myself and to my mom! I was in denial before because I didn't meet the stereotypes, so your coming out video was a turning point in me realizing that I can be really feminine in the way I present myself but still love other women!

#theirstory Ellen Fisher has really inspired me lately, as far as I know, she is not a member of the lgbtq+ movement but seeing her making choices for herself and her family, that really reflect her values is such an inspiration for me to connect with myself and the life I want to live.

Claudia, wife of youtuber Jessica Kjellgren-Fozard, is half-Malaysian. She often appears on Jessica's youtube channel. Just another person with Asian background for you :)
@Narnendil
@Narnendil 5 жыл бұрын
@@maitesoto1953 Yes, I second this. And Jessica always calls herself a disabled person so it should be fine to describe her as that, but some other people find the term derogatory. There seems to be different views among different people if "disabled" is a good or bad word in English. (English isn't my first language ether.)
@Narnendil
@Narnendil 5 жыл бұрын
@@maitesoto1953 The other way to say it that I've heard in English is "person with disabilities", which others seem to be more fine with. But Jessica seems to prefer "disabled person". I guess you can't satisfy everyone? I mean, I've met native English speakers who also still find "queer" derogatory, even if it has been reclaimed as a good word by others, so naming is always difficult I guess. So, I think your way of expressing it should be fine as it is. But ofc, true native speakers of English, please chime in :)

I am so so so thankful that you're posting this. I have been watching you forever. I remember when you came out and at that point I hadn't even realized I was also gay yet. For exactly the same reasons you stated, it took me forever because I thought like, I don't look like Ellen Degeneres, I'm girly and I like clothes and nail polish, etc etc ETC... I'm not gay because I don't fit that stereotype. But at the same time I was like damnnnnn that girl is hottttt. But it never clicked because I didn't realize being a lesbian was an option. I never felt seen or like I fit in, so I believed I didn't, and I questioned it all the time. Even after a "healthy" 3 year long relationship with a guy. You are so right about visibility, lesbians looking different ways and living different lives. Following out lesbians on youtube and instagram is what really made me realize that this is okay and way more normal than I had thought. I wish this content existed when I was younger, and I could find videos like this of yours, rather than just googling "girls kissing" at age 10 and watching scripted scenes from movies and TV shows. Anyway, thank you for helping me along this journey. I am so happy that kids of today will be able to see this and maybe feel free to live as their authentic selves sooner than I was able to. Lots of love forever

Ingrid, in 2016 I began coming to terms with and started my exploration into my sexuality. You were my inspiration. I had watched your coming out video and it resonated with me on such a strong level. I am half filipina, half european mutt. I was in a 10 year heterosexual relationship, 2 years into an engagement, and found myself at a scary turning point. I constantly weighed the fact that I could be content in my relationship (with a wonderful, understanding human), but was I truly happy? The thought of not only having to break off an engagement, but then possibly coming out as gay was overwhelming and terrifying. Long story short, it was your video that was the catalyst to me questioning (and ultimately answering) what my sexual orientation is. I am now in an amazing long term relationship with a beautiful woman inside and out and have learned what it feels to be truly happy. I plan to propose to her this summer. Thank you for your strength and your boldness in sharing your story. I’ve loved also watching your and your channel’s evolution. From the deepest of my heart, thank you. ❤️ #theirstory 🏳️‍🌈

You have given me the energy to stumble through my coming out journey and continue to discover my sexuality. It hasn't been an easy road for me, but the videos you've made about your journey has inspired me to give myself patience and really be okay with the fact that I'm not sure just yet. So I just came out as asexual to my best friend via discord message. It was 2 am and I deleted it all but she still read it in her notifications... she didn’t seem to care, and me being asexual isn’t the entire story as o an definitely romantically attracted to girls more than boys, but I never told her that. I’ve never really had crushes or much of an interest etc. I expected to feel relieved but I’m just kind of panicked and scared. Any advice?

love you but calling dead lgbt people queer is disrespectful tbh. people like adrienne rich who lived in a time where queer was a violent slur would probably not be comfortable with being called that now. i hate being called queer due to being called that in a negative way (ik it’s widely reclaimed in liberal areas/big cities, but us lgbt people who are living in non-progressive areas are still very much a target of that word as a slur) and i’m only eighteen. you definitely shouldn’t call people that without knowing their comfort level with it imo. saying “lgbt/lgbtq people” and using people’s specific labels when talking about a singular person is much more tasteful.
