Hey Ingrid, I am not sure if you actually read these but I really wanted to reach out. I am still in the closet as bisexual but I am so incredibly moved by all of your videos, especially during Pride Month. I have been watching you for years (I was only 11 or 12 when I started watching you do makeup and DIYs and all that). I remember being so incredibly moved by your Coming Out video and as I watch it as I grow older, I am mature enough to see that I am struggling with a lot of similar issues you had. I am so thankful you have talked so openly about depression on your channel as that is something I have always struggled with too. One thing that really stuck out to me was your discussion of guilt or feeling selfish in your coming out video, something I will probably always struggle with (I always find myself guilty, or that I was the problem, even when I am not). Watching your videos and seeing you evolve has given me so much hope and joy. I don't know if this will ever reach you but I just wanted to thank you and let you know that it means the world to me. Someday, I want to read all of the books you have recommended and just be able to connect because I feel like we have very similar personalties and they may move me in a similar way. All in all, I Just wanted to reach out and let you know that I love you and you mean a lot to me. I am so thankful for finding your videos back in the early 2010s and that I have stuck around and seen you grow. Thank you for living your fullest truth and letting us in on some of the tough stuff, it means a hell of a lot to people like me. (Sidenote: Ahh! I see you were in Upstate. I live in Syracuse but attend school in Geneva (15 minutes away from Cayuga and Seneca Falls) Good to see us get some credit :) )

Thank you for making this video, Ingrid! As a queer person who doesn't drink, it's so nice to learn about community spaces that aren't bars. Two additional NYC recommendations I'll make for folks: The LGBT Community Center - they have events, support groups, a bookstore, art installations, a cafe, and so much more! MNDFL (Greenwich Village location) - a meditation studio that hosts an LGBTQ sit every friday night

Love this! In Chicago people always talk about Boystown, but if you're not as into the nightlife scene like me, check out Andersonville. Women & Children First bookstore has an amazing selection. Hamburger Mary's is also great - they host drag shows throughout the week, in a more relaxed environment.

Omg Ingrid this video means so much to me! I live in Brooklyn near the Crown Heights area and I’m from Rochester, NY. The Finger Lakes hold SUCH a special place in my heart! I'm in Worcester, MA and we have a big Pride flag flying right by the highway most of the year (It gets replaced with a team flag during major championships if a Boston team is playing - at least if it is the Red Sox of Pats). I cant think of any specific places - but we havent been able to get out much in the last 3 years that we have lived here while my fiancee was in Vet school but she's a real Dr now so hopefully we will get out and explore more soon.

I have a question about the use of the word “queer” in reference to LGBTQ etc. Ingrid seems to use the word a lot these days but I recall a time when this word was considered offensive. Is that not the case anymore? I can’t help but cringe every time I hear her say it because to me it’s still defined as “weird” or “strange” etc or used as an offensive term to describe homosexual people. Does it have to do with where your from? Thoughts?
@firefly3135 жыл бұрын
Queer is a word that has been reclaimed by the community, and can be used as an umbrella term and also as its own identity. It has a strong political history with the queer liberation movement, as well. I myself identify as queer.
