I use Reminders a lot. But I have one large list of scheduled tasks, which are all repeated that I don’t want on my calendar. Yet Apple Calendar doesn’t let me exclude that list.
@NickDZ24 күн бұрын
That would be a useful feature for sure.

It’s dark mode on the iPhone/iPad. Go into settings.. display and brightness and you can choose dark appearance for the device.

Hey Nick do you know if there is a way to incorporate a MS Outlook calendar into an Apple Calendar? I am predominantly an Apple System person but work has me on an Outlook calendar for mtgs and video calls, therefore I am always switching between the two apps on a daily basis. Would love to incorporate into Apple system if possible to keep with one Master reference. . Thanx Steve
@NickDZАй бұрын
There's a couple of methods I have used which you could try, either by subscribing to the outlook calendar (ICS) which would give you a read only calendar, or you could add the Outlook account directly on your device and have the calendar sync, so then it would show in your calendar app and you can view and edit as needed. Let me know if you'd like any more help!
@ruz1957Ай бұрын
Very helpful advice but I don't use this interaction with my Calendar, If I'm unable to complete a task on the designated day, Reminders still lists it until it's completed. However, it appears that Calendar does not roll over outstanding tasks on a day by day basis until done.
@NickDZАй бұрын
That’s one feature I like with Things3, which always rolls tasks forward if not completed.

Reminders needs to be apart of the calendar so when I integrate my Apple calendar with outlook it shows the reminders
@NickDZАй бұрын
Cross platform integration would certainly be useful for those that use alternative calendars.

What drives me crazy about both Apple's Calendar & Reminders apps is not having the ability to reschedule the notification you recieve for an event to customize the notification to remind you in minutes/hours/days of your choosing that every other 3rd party Calendar or Reminder app does. With Apple your only choices are in an hour; this morning / afternoon/ evening; or tomorrow.
@NickDZАй бұрын
In iOS18 (I’m on 18.2 beta), as far as I’ve seen in reminders it lets you set the alert for any combination of mins/hours/days but calendar is slightly different with some pre-sets only.
@mountart2Ай бұрын
@@NickDZ I'm on 18.1.1 and it does not. It would be great if they update this in the next iOS
@NickDZАй бұрын
Ah fingers crossed once you get to 18.2! I’m hoping they also align that with the calendar at some point.
@withitnow7 күн бұрын
With reminders you have always been able to set the reminder to any time of day. When inputting a calendar entry, you can set 2 separate alerts for the time of event, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes before, 1, or 2 hours before, 1, or 2 days before, 1 week before. But yes, not as precise as you can for reminders. Or do you specifically mean when you get said alert/notification of your calendar entry or reminder respectively, you are limited to specifically set delay periods for the notification? If so, that is something that probably can be improved on.
@NickDZ7 күн бұрын
@withitnow yes when the reminders task alert notification is shown if you want to get the notification again (like snoozing it), then you get options such as Remind me in .. ‘an hour, in the morning, tomorrow, next weekend’, but you can’t set say ‘in 30 minutes’ or ‘at #### time’ which would be a useful enhancement.

Or one could just download the free Fantastical Calendar and simplify your life. Can't believe that Apple continues to use such an archaic calendar system.
@NickDZ21 күн бұрын
I’ve tried Fantastical a few times but always reverted back to Apple’s Calendar. The recent enhancements fixed some of the niggles I had so now it does pretty much everything I need without adding extra features that get in the way. Everyone of course has different needs so there’s a calendar app for everyone depending on the features that suit each individual. 🙂. Perhaps I’ll do a comparison video at some point to see how they both compare to help others choose their favourite.

Can you finally ask Siri to navigate you to your next meeting or event? That seems like a table stakes function that Apple has simply missed.
@NickDZАй бұрын
Just tested but Siri didn’t seem to do that sadly. It may come in spring when Siri becomes context aware, I’ll keep a look out for that!

I don‘t like the new look of the Apple Calendar. Especially the all day events are very confusing now.
@NickDZАй бұрын
I’ve found I quite like the new monthly view and all day events seem to be clearly separated from timed events. Is there a particular view where you don’t like? How do you think it could be improved?
@deantiquisetnovisАй бұрын
@ the problem is that if you have several daily events you don‘t see them, unless you scroll down on them. Secondly the way the the all day events are shown in the two day view makes me confuse them. Previously they have been more clearly separated.
@NickDZАй бұрын
@deantiquisetnovis Just noticed that on two day view, whilst they are all shown separately at the top (I like that they have icons which helps visually) it limits to showing max of four, any more and you have to scroll them. The icons I find help me know they are all day on the monthly view. They’ve also made them more rounder, but I wonder if they could do more to visually separate them. I’d like a toggle to show/hide or collapse them too sometimes.
