3 Lighthouses - Lake Superior Kayak Expedition - S2.E19 : Kayak to the Sea

My second day on the 'Skeleton Coast' or 'Shipwreck Coast' as some call it. I head east and see 3 beautiful and very different lighthouses all within a few hours of paddling of each other that stand guard over this remote shoreline. Where as other lights that we have seen have been crumbling into the lake these have had the healing touch of restoration and preservation see them into a new age.

Sorry, another one with no music. A lonely and (albeit) boring shoreline didn't seem right to add music to it. The quiet is what makes this place special.

I found it funny that you said something about not wanting to drop the camera in the Crisp Point light. I have had a camera bounce down 6 or so stairs in that light tower. The camera survived that to get damaged during a kayak rescue off Grand Island. Lighthouses and life saving stations, especially remote ones, are some of my favorite places to visit by kayak.

My great grandfather was an itinerant light house keeper on the Florida Gulf coast. He would go watch the light houses when the regular keepers had to leave for a few days. From what my grandmother would tell me it was very remote and very primitive since the light houses were on barrier islands. This would have been in the late 1800s.

Definitely a different sort of vibe with the lack of fresh water, heat, and hurricanes but I can imagine how lonely of a job it could be.
