I have been taking coumadin for nearly 19 yrs. i had congestive heart failure at the age of 40. I have an artificial mechanical aortic valve. I have to go thru a series of Lovenox shots and stop coumadin for any medical procedure. Im having dental extractions next week and im currently doing 14 shots total. The needles arent an issue for me, but cant they make this medicine not burn so bad ? I bruise like crazy and look like ive been used for target practice from the shots. This is the first time ive had to " waste" a portion of the lovenox in the syringe due to weight dosage. .( 01 ). My heart Drs nurse didnt explain this very clearly over the phone . Noone has ever told me not to push the bubble out either. Ive done these many times and ive evidently been doing them wrong. Its a scary thought. This has been very helpful advice. It should be a requirement to watch before using Lovenox. Thank you. ❤️💉😀

Hie there. I also have an artificial heart valve and have been on warfarin for 4years now. I want to conceive and they told me i will have to stop warfarin and use enoxaparin instead. The problem is that i can't afford this drug it's so expensive i would like to hear how are you getting these injections. Im sad about this issue

I take lovenox injection and the way it didn’t burn is to inject the medication slowly very slowly it takes longer but it didn’t hurt at all !

Yes it’s very important to inject the medication slooooowly and it will barely burn or pain at all. I give the injections to myself better than the RNs did. When they did it they did it super fast and it was awful. Take the tip,you’ll be glad you did!

Thanks all, I've had a mechanical mitral valve for 22 years. This is the first time I've needed to use the lovenox protocol - for a periodontal surgery in a few days. Neither the Cardiologist's assistant nor the pharmacist warned me to inject it sloooowly to help prevent pain. Going to do that tonight. THANKS!!!

If the weight thing can be so severe why do they give it when someone have bariatric surgery. Surgeon said for two weeks after

I use lovenox bc I have a blood disorder I didn't know I had and was diagnosed with over 30+ pulmonary embolisms. But it gave me my life back. I do think their needs to be better education on how to give it and where bc I researched it. The hospital didn't tell me much. All blood thinners can cause bleeding not just lovenox. Coumadin is one of the worst ones to be on. I've heard too much bad my whole life on that

Just out of hospital on this new injection I was never told any of this and even had nurses pushing up before injection OMG!!!! I won’t even get started on the bruises on my stomach smh

Hold pressure after every injection for at least 10 minutes to stop bruising it’s caused by bleeding under the skin.

I have been taking Lovenox for 2 weeks after DVT and Pulmonary Embolism. I have been developing pea size nodes from injection site to me upper chest. Feels like hundreds of them. Now my skin is on fire. The PAC first question if I have a history of heart burn. What?

So why would the Hospital send my son home with 60 of these things and he was giving this in Icu at grady and at 2 other hospitals. He was on this for longer than 5 days

Why such a large bore 27 gauge needle ??? I am bruised by the needle stick it self.

The bigger the number the smaller the needle. Lovenox is tiny. I take 80mg twice daily for life.

They don't get much smaller. There's a 30 and maybe a 32 and 34. If they do get smaller it would be for premie babies.

Giving yourself a shot everyday will do it to you. I do it every 12 hours and I’m covered in bruuses

I'm on lovenox I had a blood clot from legs shot threw my heart and ended up in both lungs , then finally got off in 2016 Then found out I was pregnant in Aug 2017 they said I got to take lovenox everyday they said they gonna treat me like I got a blood clot to prevent me from having a blood clot I take 40mil and 1 81mg aspirin do you think the doctors right ?

Thank you for your comment and inquiry, Shay. There is no way to get a second opinion with this amount of information. My advice is to seek another treating physician, bring this doctor your medical records, and laboratory results. A blood clot can be deadly.

That is exactly what my doctor prescribed, same dosage. He said Lovenox does not cross the placenta, completely safe for the baby, but it will keep placenta from getting clogged with mircoclots, and aspirin gets thru placenta and prevent the baby from getting a clot.

Hannah owen i relate so well with you. That's what i was told by doctors. The problem is that i can't afford this drug it's so expensive so i m still waiting for a miracle that 1day i can have the injections and fulfill my wish of being a mother. If you dont mind tell me how did it go for you
