3 Manitoba teens arrested over alleged hockey hazing incidents

Manitoba RCMP have arrested three 17-year-old boys, all of whom are high school hockey players, in relation to two separate reports of hazing at a hotel in Winnipeg.
The incidents allegedly happened while the hockey team was in the city for tournaments in January 2024 and November 2023. The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on June 10.

I thought this crap was taken out of all sports. I remember the days of players getting shaved all over. I never liked it, took part in it and was disgusted by it. That isn't part of being on a team. A team watches out for each other. They don't hurt or humiliate one another. I'm glad they are charging them.

Hazing or what we used to call initiation was a right of ritual where the new people would be subjected to certain tasks or ordeals to be part of the collective group. In my day it was never anything sexual it was stupid things like eating gross things or drinking something disgusting we would throw together, other times it might be that you walked a gauntlet through a line of your team members and they would punch you in the arms hard. But we would never do any sexually disgusting things to them.
