Paul, 2 time meal is very good for health. Intermittent Fasting. Give 16 hours rest to digestive system. Please think. Love from India.

I love your message for people to try the new stores and not be afraid. I've had nothing but great experiences at Middle Eastern and Asian/Southeast Asian/Indian markets. Being vegan and vegetarian over the last twenty years I have been able to find exciting and delicious new foods I would have never discovered otherwise.

I love buying stuff at ethnic markets that I have no idea what it is and need to Google it when I get home :-) it only backfired on me once. Not exactly sure what kind of peppers they were, but I definitely should have taken a smaller first bite!

Hey Paul! Indo-Pak food, stores, cafes and restaurants are so colorful, fragrant and welcoming! It's been way too long since I last had any of that cuisine, so I'm thrilled to see the vegan backpacking version! Way to go with the date paste, tvp/soyz chunks and samosas! ^5

Seems like the foods here on your channel would be good for vanlife without a refrigerator or in combination with light cooking in a van. Thank you 🙏 I enjoy watching.

We eat Indian food often and frequent our Indian Grocery. I love shopping there. We have most of the items you show so I will make up some meals from our pantry. Thank you for the suggestions!

I've taken my cameras on trips before, but never quite got around to filming anything. Just because of the nature of my job, I kind of just like being alone when I go :-) if I start filming, I feel like I'm bringing a group of people along with me!

I reside in Johnstown PA and we don't have stores like that here. I wish that we did. There are lots of things that I can not find here, like carob for one.

Wow! I enjoyed this! I haven't been to an ethnic market in a long time, so I hadn't thought about how these foods might work into a backpacker's diet! Will you be doing a followup video and let us know how it came out? Not that you necessarily need to record video on your trip, unless you want to. I'm just curious how it all works out!

When I watched the video afterwards I did hear my self misspeak, I have had these things many times before, it wasn't my first time experimenting.. I never have them all together, and never the same exact recipe. I filmed this on a Monday, Tuesday when I woke up I realized I had no food packed for work (I bring breakfast, lunch, snack). I looked at the food that I had prepped for this video and just grabbed it all. I would have aded slightly more raisons to the breakfast. I really don't know what i was thinking in the video when I poured out the marsala spices for the couscous dinner, when I packed it I should have left some out, it was really spicy! Way too much food for a regular day at work, most of the snacks were left over, and brought home some of the dinner and mixed with rice and added more raisons. Sadly the cookies were eaten as I cleaned up from the video :)

I think you have a record number of videos on backpacking bidets. Now you’re talking about Indian food. You’ll need a super powerful bidet after that.

Ahhh....at the end of each video I could give it a bidet rating :)

Do more vlog style videos of some of your outings!

I tried a simple one once, fewest number of views of any video on the channel :) I might in the future, but I really go hiking/backpacking to "leave it all behind." Filming ends up feeling like a burden and takes away the positive trip vibes. makes the trip feel like work. I bet once I get to go more often that would change.

I have seen Coconut flour before and was wondering how it could be added to food and curious if it is similar to Coconut powder.
@PaultheBackpacker3 жыл бұрын
While you might taste a hint of coconut in the coconut flour, is definitely not a strong coconut flavor. Just like things like banana flour, does not taste like bananas :-) the stuff that I had in this video is basically super ground up fine coconut.

PUMPKIN SEED WARNING! Pumpkin seeds contain a lot of iron. If you get to much iron you will get a persistent nasty taste in your mouth.
@PaultheBackpacker3 жыл бұрын
Can you provide a source for that? While this recipe only includes a handful of pumpkin seeds, I have eaten bags at a time and have never experienced that nor has anyone in my family.
@pickinduck3 жыл бұрын
@@PaultheBackpacker No, I can not provide a source. It did happen to me personally years ago and I did track it down then.
@PaultheBackpacker3 жыл бұрын
It just seems as though if some pumpkin seeds do that, then everyone is who is eating burgers and steaks would have a far far worse problem since they contain so much more iron :-)
@pickinduck3 жыл бұрын
@@PaultheBackpacker I don't know. Perhaps all iron isn't the same like with many other things. Just keep what I said in the back of your mind then when you get a persistent nasty taste in your mouth it will help you with figuring out why.
