3 members of US Marshals Fugitive Task Force killed in North Carolina: Police

Three law enforcement officers were killed and five more were wounded in a shooting incident in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday afternoon, authorities say.
At the time of the shooting, the U.S. Marshals Task Force was serving a warrant in an investigation "when they were engaged by active gunfire from a subject," according to police.

Harder to plan, less predictable, and more likely to go wrong. Search warrants are easier to plan out, more predictable, and usually easier and safer, though as proven by this case, it could happen either way, but search warrants are a generally better idea, hence why you will very rarely here about something like this.

The US Marshals "Task Force" can comprise of different agencies including officers from local jurisdictions, but yes you're right they should be highly trained regardless. Some of those guys are on SWA T etc.
