3/ Milton Erickson - Lectures - Self Hypnosis

In this lecture I attended the speaker put us all out (a class of 35) without any of using knowing he was going to do that. There's a myth that you can't be hypnotised unless you want to be. Erickson and the good Hypnotists would use your own resistance to trance and turn it on you.

6:14 One can ask one person's unconscious to be creative: to create solutions to problems, create conditions for successful change 9:19 the problem had to do with the person's relationship to the environment. The environment got in the way so that the person couldn't use the resources (of his own unconscious) 12:17 there's little else other than hypnosis. I know that if a person is staring at me unblinkingly and I haven't mentioned hypnosis... The person is concentrating on what I am saying to the exclusion of everything else... Then therapy can be done, without hypnosis being mentioned. 19:50 (there might be) a physical tension that remains even though the mind and emotions are quietened. 20:16 I ask the client to scan the body:"is there any part you can't sense, getting into feeling this?" Very often the part that can't be sensed, it can't be sensed at all! It's where a physical problem came / tension can remain there for longer, even when it has been released. 21:15 complete relaxation is very different than the usual concepts. Watching TV, read a book or knitting is "relaxing": that type of activity of often a "diversion" rather than relaxation (and in a diversion the mind doesn't necessarily relax! And frequently neither does the body)

yes there is. Its one long rambling lecture over 5 or 6 tapes from 1982 that I've tried to dissect into chapters the best I can.
